However, last year saw the discovery of the infamous Joy-Con drift,\u00a0a problem so prevalent it caused\u00a0multiple\u00a0gamers to file lawsuit against the classic video game company. Now it turns out that one UK gamer took Nintendo to court over their Joy-Con issues and returned victorious.<\/p>\n<p>For those that don&#8217;t know, Joy-Con drift is an issue within the controllers where the joysticks read directional input from the player even though they aren&#8217;t using it. The drifting issue has been such a widespread problem that many players began investigating if a class action lawsuit was possible. In an attempt to make good with its community, Nintendo then offered players the opportunity to send in their <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/nintendo-fix-switch-joy-cons-drift-free\/\">Joy-Cons to be fixed for free<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/nintendo-joy-con-drift-apology\/\">Nintendo President Apologizes for Joy-Con Drift Issues<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>This Joy-Con\u00a0repair program was exactly what one Reddit user was attempting to use before they ended up filing suit against Nintendo. Reddit user crownshots explained in a post about how they had sent in their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegamer.com\/is-nintendo-fixing-joy-con-drift\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Joy-Cons to have their drifting issue<\/a> fixed twice with each taking over a month to be sent back, they then requested a partial refund from Nintendo.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/NintendoSwitch\/comments\/irfdia\/i_took_nintendo_to_court_over_controller_issues\/?utm_source=share&#038;utm_medium=web2x&#038;context=3\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>However, the person they spoke to stated that refunds were not possible and that repairs were their only option. After crownshots seemed to inform the Nintendo employee that this didn&#8217;t make sense and was illegal, the Nintendo employee then told them to seek legal action and hung up.\u00a0With this curt response in mind, crownshots\u00a0followed the employee&#8217;s advice and\u00a0opened a case with a small claims court. Despite Nintendo not responding to the claim\u00a0until after the allotted 21 days, the company then reached out and gave crownshots instructions on how they could claim their refund.<\/p>\n<p>While this may seem like a small win for consumers, it&#8217;s important to note Nintendo&#8217;s history with legal disputes. The company seems quick to file lawsuits against those that it believes have violated their copyright claims, and as such has a strong legal team on hand at all times. While Nintendo typically wins those cases, it has found that winning <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/nintendo-joycon-lawsuit-denied\/\">Joy-Con related disputes seem to not go in its favor<\/a>.
