Thanks to some hard work on a global community challenge, the player base has been able to unlock Mega Pidgeot raids in the mobile AR\u00a0 game. The new Mega Raid boss arrives in just a few days, which means it is time for players to start preparing their counter rosters and getting ready for the next big fight.<\/p>\n<p>Mega Pidgeot Battle Raids are scheduled to arrive this Friday, September 18 at 1pm PDT. That gives <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/pokemon-go\/\"><em>Pokemon GO<\/em><\/a> players plenty of time to think about the perfect counter roster and do whatever is necessary to power up their perfect team and possibly burn some TMs to give each Pokemon the perfect move set for the Mega Raid showdown.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/pokemon-go-pokestop-scan-level-20\/\">Pokemon GO Lowers PokeStop Scan Level Requirement<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Although Mega Pidgeot may not sound as intimidating as <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/pokemon-go-charizard-y-beat-catch-how\/\">Mega Charizard or Mega Blastoise<\/a>, it is still a Mega Raid, which means it won&#8217;t be a total pushover. High level players could likely duo this particular boss without a major challenge, but the average players should plan to head in with the usual 4-6 friends to ensure an easy victory.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PokemonGoApp\/status\/1305576551497560066\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Mega Pidgeot is going to be weak to Rock and Electric-type Pokemon. Luckily that means there are tons of popular counter options who have been useful in other recent Battle Raids. Hopefully this means the average Battle Raid players doesn&#8217;t need to blow through a lot of new resources to get a strong roster ready for this particular fight. Be sure to avoid Grass-, Bug-, and Fighting-types, since they are all weak to Pidgeot&#8217;s Normal\/Flying pairing.<\/p>\n<p>Zekrom &#8211; Charge Beam\/Wild Charge<\/p>\n<p>Rhyperior &#8211; Smack Down\/Rock Wrecker<\/p>\n<p>Rampardos &#8211; Smack Down\/Rock Slide<\/p>\n<p>Electivire &#8211; Thunder Shock\/Wild Charge<\/p>\n<p>Raikou &#8211; Thunder Shock\/Wild Charge<\/p>\n<p>Terrakion &#8211; Smack Down\/Rock Slide<\/p>\n<p>Magnezone &#8211; Spark\/Wild Charge<\/p>\n<p>Zapdos &#8211; Thunder Shock\/Thunderbolt<\/p>\n<p>An important point to keep in mind is that Mega Pidgeot is not catchable at the end of this Battle Raid. <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/pokemon-go-mega-evolution-time-limit\/\">Mega Pokemon have to be (temporarily) evolved<\/a> by using the correct resources. That said, completing Mega Raids is currently the primary way to earn Mega Energy and unlock the ability to Mega Evolve Pokemon. At the end of the Mega Raid, players will earn an encounter with a regular Pidgeot, which obviously isn&#8217;t very exciting, but the resource rewards are what players are really after as they complete these Mega Raids, so that is where the real payoff is going to be.<\/p>\n<p>For now,\u00a0<em>Pokemon GO<\/em>\u00a0trainers should be able to head out into the world (or play from home) and continue catching\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegamer.com\/unova-go-ranked\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the best Unova Pokemon in the game<\/a>\u00a0and getting closer to that complete Pokedex.
