After years of rumors and months of official announcements, fans have less than a week before they can put their money down on the next generation of Xbox consoles. Unfortunately, Microsoft has made it clear that not everyone who wants to get their hands on an <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/xbox-series-x\/\">Xbox Series X<\/a> or S at launch may\u00a0be able to.<\/p>\n<p>Demand often outweighs supply when a new console launches, and it seems\u00a0safe to assume that will be the case with the Xbox Series and its main competitor, Sony\u2019s PlayStation 5. Add on the\u00a0disruption that\u00a0COVID-19 has caused to major manufacturing supply chains, and many\u00a0people have suspected that Microsoft and Sony won\u2019t be able to produce as many next-gen consoles as they were once hoping to, even if <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/sony-denies-cut-ps5-production\/\">Sony officially denied rumors that it cut PS5 production numbers<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/xbox-series-s-retail-box\/\">Xbox Series S Retail Box Revealed<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Whatever factors are to blame this time around, it probably won\u2019t shock a lot of fans that Microsoft is saying supplies of the Xbox Series may\u00a0be short. Today, it was discovered that emails have been sent out to Microsoft Store customers in the UK hyping the <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/xbox-series-x-pre-order-time-uk\/\">start of pre-orders for the Xbox Series X<\/a> on September 22. These clearly state that \u201cconsoles are limited, while supplies last,\u201d and\u00a0tell customers to \u201cmark your calendar to ensure you\u2019re first in line.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/XboxSeriesX\/comments\/itr93c\/supplies_are_limited_via_email\/?sort=new&#038;utm_content=media&#038;utm_medium=post_embed&#038;utm_name=52bb5a0ef6f142c1bdca23f1c80f6e21&#038;utm_source=embedly&#038;utm_term=itr93c\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Some\u00a0fans have written the email off as typical marketing one would see for pre-orders of a new console, which is understandable, but Microsoft isn\u2019t the only one stressing this point. Just a few days ago, <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/xbox-series-x-limited-supply-best-buy\/\">Best Buy stated that it expects the Xbox Series to sell out quickly<\/a> as well. It\u2019s possible that the shortages this time around will be noticeably worse than in previous console launches, given circumstances surrounding the ongoing pandemic, but it\u2019s worth pointing out that Microsoft\u2019s warning of supplies being \u201climited\u201d is still vague, so fans shouldn\u2019t panic about their odds of getting a new Xbox shrinking just yet.<\/p>\n<p>That said, it\u2019s clear that anticipation is high for the next Xbox console, what with its promise of fast load times, 120FPS gameplay, extensive backwards compatibility, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegamer.com\/xbox-series-x-all-access-price\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">appealing pricing options for\u00a0the Xbox Series<\/a>.
