Although this week\u2019s Sony PlayStation 5 event was meant to give the most important information about the next-gen console like price and release date, there were a few bits of news that were left out. For example, Sony only later confirmed that pre-orders for the PS5<\/a> would begin tomorrow, September 17, at select retailers.<\/p>\n

Another piece of information that was not confirmed during the event were some of the launch titles that will either accompany the PS5 at its release date on November 12 or will follow shortly thereafter. Chief among those is the Demon\u2019s Souls<\/em><\/strong> remake from Bluepoint Games.<\/p>\n

During the event, Bluepoint showed off the first look at true gameplay from Demon\u2019s Souls<\/em><\/a>, which highlighted the improvements to gameplay, the visuals in-engine, and gave some quick glances at the game\u2019s iconic boss fights. But then the trailer concluded without any mention of a release date or even a release window.<\/p>\n

It was only a few minutes after the event that The Game Awards creator Geoff Keighley<\/a> confirmed that Demon\u2019s Souls<\/em> is a launch title for the PS5. And then, a little after that, Sony revealed that Demon\u2019s Souls<\/em> remake will be a launch day PS5 game. It joins the likes of Spider-Man: Miles Morales<\/em>, Astro\u2019s Playroom<\/em> (packed in with the console), and Sackboy: A Big Adventure<\/em> as part of the PS5\u2019s exclusive line-up.<\/p>\n

The one major detail about the Demon’s Souls<\/em> launch that is drawing a lot of criticism is the pricing. Apparently, every launch day game for the Ps5 except for Spider-Man: Miles Morales, will retail for $69.99. Take-Two kicked off the premium prices for next-gen games trend with NBA 2K<\/em><\/a>, and now it appears Sony is following suit.<\/p>\n

There had been rumors that Demon\u2019s Souls<\/em> might be a surprise launch title<\/a> for the PS5, but many were unsure given that Sony had never announced the game as such. Only Spider-Man: Miles Morales<\/em> was touted as the big launch exclusive at the time, but there was speculation that some other games might accompany it. Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart<\/em> was hoped to be a PS5 launch title, but unfortunately a follow-up gameplay demo confirmed that it is not.<\/p>\n

Now, PS5 gamers know for sure that they will be able to jump into Demon\u2019s Souls<\/em> on Day 1 and either re-experience the first true, Souls<\/em> experience, or see the game that started it all, only with a fresh coat of paint. There are definitely some key differences between how original developer FromSoftware approached Demon\u2019s Souls<\/em> and then evolved the formula for Dark Souls<\/em><\/a>, but they are still very familiar experiences. Many fans consider Demon\u2019s Souls<\/em> to be the best of the bunch, though, which is why the remake was so often requested.<\/p>\n
