That will no doubt be a tough blow for non-PlayStation fans who\u2019ve been looking forward to the franchise\u2019s next mainline entry for years now, but a look at the fine print makes it pretty clear that this PlayStation deal won\u2019t last forever.<\/p>\n<p>This is hardly the most surprising possibility, as rumors have been circulating for weeks <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/final-fantasy-16-ps5-console-exclusive\/\">suggesting that <em>Final Fantasy 16<\/em> will merely be a timed console exclusive<\/a>. These have actually gained some traction with the debut of <em>FF16<\/em>\u2019s announcement trailer, thanks to a key line that appears at the bottom of the screen at the very end: \u201cNot available on other platforms for a limited time after release on PS5.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/final-fantasy-16-release-date-when-years\/\">Final Fantasy 16 is Likely Years Away<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Besides that, though, it\u2019d be hard to tell that from Square Enix\u2019s announcement that it\u2019s considering bringing the game to any platform other than the PS5, and it looks like that\u2019s how Square wants it to be for the time being. In the wake of the <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/ps5-price-release-date\/\">PS5 showcase<\/a>, the publisher\u2019s spokespeople have reached out to publications like Kotaku to clarify that it has \u201conly announced that <em>Final Fantasy 16<\/em> is coming to PlayStation 5.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This is in seeming contradiction to the trailer itself, as it clearly states that its gameplay and cinematic footage is running on a PC, implying that the game will be launching for PC alongside PS5. However, when asked about this discrepancy, a spokesperson simply told Kotaku, \u201cWe have no further information on if <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/final-fantasy-16\/\"><em>Final Fantasy 16<\/em><\/a> will be released on platforms other than the PS5.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"480\" height=\"270\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/2tBnBAkHv9M?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>So, going off of that, it\u2019s safe to assume that the game will probably come to PC (and maybe Xbox systems) one day, but for the foreseeable future, the PS5 is Square\u2019s sole focus. The situation is not unlike what\u2019s going on right now with <em>Final Fantasy 7 Remake<\/em> on the PS4. It\u2019s been known that that\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegamer.com\/final-fantasy-vii-remake-ps4-exclusivity-extended-delay\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>FF7 Remake<\/em>\u00a0will only be exclusive to the PS4 for a full year<\/a>, and yet, despite that, Square hasn\u2019t really expressed any plans for additional platforms beyond that point.<\/p>\n<p>It could be that Square is holding off on divulging those plans until <em>FF7<\/em>\u2019s exclusivity deal with Sony ends, at which time it will start opening up. Should that be the case, chances are the publisher intends to maintain a similar silence ahead of <em>Final Fantasy 16<\/em>\u2019s launch and during its <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/sony-ps5-more-third-party-exclusives\/\">exclusivity period on the PS5<\/a>.
