The pre-load for\u00a0Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War<\/em><\/strong>‘s\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>Alpha is available now\u00a0for players on the PlayStation 4. The file is about 25GB, and will prepare player’s systems to try\u00a0Black Ops Cold War<\/a><\/em>\u00a0starting September 18th. This Alpha will be free on PS4, with no PS+ codes required to play.<\/p>\n

Fans have been anticipating\u00a0this Alpha since the new game was announced,\u00a0as it will give the Call of Duty <\/em>community its\u00a0first hands-on experience<\/a> with the title. Activision and Treyarch have announced all the content available\u00a0in the Alpha with more detail through a PlayStation Blog post.<\/p>\n

The Alpha will\u00a0contain several 6v6 maps and game modes for players to get their first taste of multiplayer. In addition, the new Combined Arms: Domination mode will be featured during the Alpha period through September 20, letting\u00a0fans try the\u00a012v12 experience. Players will also have access to the new “Create a Class” system, along with some of the new Scorestreaks. PlayStation 4 fans will be the first to experience this\u00a0next-generation Call of Duty <\/em>combat<\/a> at a global scale, and will no doubt be reporting their thoughts soon.<\/p>\n

Fans will get to play the traditional Team Deathmatch, Kill Confirm, and Domination game modes with one notable exception, as\u00a0Black Ops Cold War’s <\/em>version of Domination<\/a> will have a larger capture area than in previous titles, which should provide\u00a0players\u00a0more opportunities while defending or attacking a point.<\/p>\n

The three game modes will take place across\u00a0two main maps: Miami and Satellite<\/a>. Miami has\u00a0players in\u00a0a beachside confrontation with neon lights, art-deco architecture, and various locations. From battles stretching across rooftops to empty streets and beachfront locals, fans will have to weave through shops in order to try and their\u00a0flank enemies.<\/p>\n

Black Ops Cold War’s <\/em><\/a>Satellite<\/a> is a much different map, as it presents a battlefield without any man-made structures other than the satellite itself. Players will have to battle across rocky outcroppings and navigate different\u00a0paths to find proper routes needed to gain the jump on the enemy. On the opposite side of the map are several natural sand dunes, which should\u00a0give snipers a perfect area to set up for cross-map eliminations.<\/p>\n

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War <\/strong><\/em>is set to release on November 13th for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.<\/p>\n
