Grenades and healing items are both accessible via the d-pad, but when a player wants to use an ultimate accelerant, they have to open up the full menu and scroll over to the item then press a button to use it.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/apex-legends-octane-instant-finisher\/\">Apex Legends Player Discovers Instant Finisher with Octane<\/a><\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Doing so is not difficult, but in the middle of a heated fight with another team, fumbling through the menus to find an ultimate accelerant wastes precious seconds,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegamer.com\/apex-legends-weapon-time-to-kill-guide\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">time in <em>Apex Legends<\/em><\/a>\u00a0that could be used better elsewhere. Which is what gave Reddit user Scumbag-Breeze their great idea.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/apexlegends\/comments\/iwfoqb\/just_a_concept_no_i_am_no_photoshop_master_but_i\/\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The Redditor suggests that the buttons that normally activate a legend\u2019s ultimate can instead use an\u00a0ultimate accelerant when the ultimate is not ready to be deployed. So by pressing L1 and R1 on PlayStation, L and R on an Xbox controller (or a Switch Joy-con set next month, if the rumors of a<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/apex-legends-crossplay-switch-release-date-soon\/\"> <em>Apex Legends<\/em> Switch release<\/a>\u00a0are accurate) there would be no more fumbling through menus.<\/p>\n<p>Some pointed out in the comments that some sort of buffer would be needed to be added to protect those who mash the two buttons in the seconds before their ultimate is ready, so they can use it as soon as possible without\u00a0deploying\u00a0an ultimate accelerant at 98% and getting killed.
