Marvel just released the trailer for their anticipated upcoming Disney+ series\u00a0WandaVision<\/em>, and audiences are reacting with a resounding “huh?” The intriguing preview seems to be proving that the show will be just as strange and surreal as fans were expecting.<\/p>\n

Starting off in an idyllic vision of classic 50’s Americana, Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany) appear to be part of a typical sitcom<\/a> of the era, complete with peppy music and wacky neighbors. The black and white filter combined with\u00a0a forced 4:3 aspect ratio drive the effect home, before a dinner\u00a0with Debra Jo Rupp (That 70’s Show<\/em>) and Fred Melamed (Lady Dynamite<\/em>) prompt the two leads to begin questioning their grayscale paradise.<\/p>\n

This is followed by a montage of more colorful and less boxy clips. From a cackling witch (Kathryn Hahn) to Wanda and Vision notably dressing in costumes of their original comic book outfits, there appears to at the very least be a Halloween\u00a0motif (maybe director Matt Shakman<\/a> has a goth side). However, the rest of the trailer features a mishmash of seemingly unrelated scenes, though it will almost certainly make sense to viewers once they see the show itself. Frankly, it will be interesting to see how it all connects.<\/p>\n
