Nintendo has numerous\u00a0second-party development studios under its umbrella, but one of the most prominent of those developers is Game Freak<\/strong>. Most readers probably know the name Game Freak as the creator\u00a0of the main series\u00a0Pokemon<\/em>\u00a0games<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Game Freak and Pokemon<\/em> have a wide net considering the series is popular all over the world, so Game Freak must maintain its own brand in a plethora of different countries and regions. Now, it seems that Game Freak<\/a> is changing its name in China so it sounds less foreign in the native language.<\/p>\n

Thanks to a Twitter user who goes by the handle @852_sirena, as well as a handful of other translators, fans are able to see exactly what change was made. Game Freak was formerly known as \u201c\u904a\u6232\u5bcc\u5229\u514b\u201d in China, but the issue with this name was that \u201c\u904a\u6232\u201d meant \u201cgame,\u201d while \u201c\u5bcc\u5229\u514b\u201d was just the phonetic spelling of \u201cfreak,\u201d leading to an odd translation\u00a0in Chinese. This isn\u2019t the first time\u00a0Pokemon<\/em>-related names was changed in China<\/a>, but this move by Game Freak is on a larger level.<\/p>\n
