Nintendo\u2019s open-world game\u00a0has a\u00a0distinct take on the series\u2019 world and characters, which has inspired a <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/zelda-breath-of-the-wild-temple-of-time-scale-model\/\">lot of <em>Breath of the Wild<\/em>-themed fan creations<\/a> since its 2017 debut. Some\u00a0of this art has pictured\u00a0what the game might look like if mashed together with other popular games and movies, like the animated classic <em>Princess Mononoke<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Studio Ghibli has turned out a number of\u00a0acclaimed films over the decades, but many consider Hayao Miyazaki\u2019s 1997 epic about the conflict between man and nature as one of its best. The movie has been a major influence on a lot of media in the years\u00a0since, including video games, so it&#8217;s not all that surprising to see it inspiring fan art for <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/breath-of-wild-studio-ghibli-poster\/\"><em>Breath of the Wild<\/em>, which has plenty of Ghibli-inspired art<\/a> already.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/animal-crossing-new-horizons-studio-ghibli-designs-codes\/\">Animal Crossing New Horizons: 10 Best Studio Ghibli Designs (With Codes)<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s also something about the game itself that meshes with this movie in particular, as the illustrations shared by comfycorduroy on Twitter this weekend show. The two properties focus on vast and vibrant natural settings with a deep sense of history, and\u00a0the way comfycorduroy recreates some of <em>Princess Mononoke<\/em>\u2019s scenes using Link, Zelda, and other characters from <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/the-legend-of-zelda-breath-of-the-wild\/\"><em>Breath of the Wild<\/em><\/a> works well.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/comfycorduroy\/status\/1307407638980780032\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/comfycorduroy\/status\/1294344028419264513?ref_src=https:\/\/gamerant.com\/zelda-breath-of-the-wild-princess-mononoke-art\/twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1294344028419264513%7Ctwgr%5Eshare_2&#038;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.dualshockers.com%2Fbreath-of-the-wild-meets-princess-mononoke-in-a-perfect-marriage-of-art%2F%22 frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The <em>Legend of Zelda<\/em> community has created a lot\u00a0of content based on the latest game. In addition to illustrations like comfycorduroy\u2019s, there have also been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegamer.com\/fan-made-breath-of-the-wild-cartoon\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">fan animations based on <em>Breath of the Wild<\/em><\/a> (some\u00a0of which also carry a bit of Ghibli inspiration), scale models of the game\u2019s weapons and locations, custom Switch and Amiibo models, as well as\u00a0numerous mods for the game itself.<\/p>\n<p>All this content has served to keep fans engaged with <em>Breath of the Wild<\/em> while they wait to dive back into its world. That\u00a0wait will end soon with the release of the prequel\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/hyrule-warriors-age-calamity-playable-characters\/\"><em>Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity<\/em><\/a> in November, followed by <em>Breath of the Wild 2<\/em> at some point down the line. Chances are a fresh wave of fan content will result from these releases, too.<\/p>\n<p>Aside from its movies, Studio Ghibli has become well known for its distinct aesthetic that has been recreated by\u00a0the <em>Ni No Kuni<\/em> series and other types of fan art.
