Anyone familiar with titles\u00a0by\u00a0Supergiant Games knows the developer loves fusing story with its\u00a0gameplay, often accompanied by\u00a0great music. Supergiant even released an orchestral album for its 10th anniversary<\/a>, a move that makes sense considering\u00a0the success of its latest game:\u00a0Hades<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Those familiar with\u00a0Hades<\/a><\/em> know well why it has become a hit. The game is a roguelite dungeon crawler where\u00a0players take control of Zagreus, prince of the Underworld. The goal is to escape the Underworld itself, which Zagreus does (or fails to do) with the help of \u00a0divine weapons called the Infernal Arms that can take on different aspects, each with their\u00a0own special powers. This includes Hidden Aspects, which require specific conditions before they become\u00a0available. Each weapon has one Hidden Aspect, with newest\u00a0Twin Fists of Malphon’s Aspect of Gilgamesh being tricky to unlock.<\/p>\n

The first step to unlocking the Aspect of Gilgamesh is to unlock\u00a0the weapon it serves: The Twin Fists of Malphon. The Fists become available to unlock as the game is played, and require eight Chthonic Keys to unlock.<\/p>\n

The Fated List, which gives rewards for specific accomplishments, is available\u00a0from the House Contractor, and will likely\u00a0be an early purchase for most players.<\/p>\n

One of the most important tips\u00a0to know about Hades<\/em><\/a> is that there are no objectively “bad” Infernal Arms. Each one suits a different playstyle, and each works in a different\u00a0niche, so they are worth experimenting with. With this in mind, the next step is to unlock at least five different Infernal Arms Aspects.<\/p>\n

The Aspect of Guan-Yu was the first Hidden Aspect introduced, and is necessary for unlocking the others. This information was brought to light by Steam players after Hades<\/em> left its\u00a0Epic Games Store exclusivity<\/a>. After five aspects are unlocked, and the final boss is\u00a0fought at least once (whether or not it’s beaten), speak to Achilles. It may require a few conversations, but eventually he’ll offer\u00a0a code phrase. Say that phrase\u00a0to Varatha the Eternal Spear to unlock the Aspect of Guan-Yu.<\/p>\n

After unlocking the Aspect of Guan-Yu, feed Titan Blood to the Fists. In this case, the Titan Blood\u00a0must be invested in powering up Aspects, as just spending it to unlock the Aspects is not enough. Some\u00a0may be surprised\u00a0that weapons feeding on blood play prominently\u00a0in a game that\u00a0surprise launched for the Switch<\/a>, but\u00a0Hades<\/em>\u00a0leans into its darker aspects.<\/p>\n

The final step is finding Asterius, one of the two bosses of Elysium that\u00a0can also be fought as a mini-boss. This is down to luck, so look for doors with skulls under the rewards in Elysium. He must be spoken to\u00a0while wielding the Twin Fists.\u00a0It requires several encounters to get the Minotaur to tell his story, but a code phrase will be offered\u00a0at the end. Speak it to the Twin Fists to unlock the weapon, just one of many hidden secrets that has contributed to\u00a0Hades<\/em>‘ warm reception in critical reviews<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Hades<\/strong><\/em> is available for PC and Switch.<\/p>\n
