Of course, one of the most exciting games that Mafia<\/em> fans can get soon is Mafia: Definitive Edition<\/em><\/strong>,<\/em> which is a full remake of the original game<\/a>\u00a0that was first released back in 2002.<\/p>\n

Now, before anything else, it is worth noting that\u00a0Mafia: Trilogy<\/em> includes the Definitive Editions of all three Mafia<\/em> games, and for those who have purchased this version, they can already play Mafia 2 <\/em>and Mafia 3<\/em>, with the remake of the first Mafia<\/em> game releasing on September 25. However,\u00a0the remake can also be purchased separately as Mafia: Definitive Edition<\/em><\/a>, which is also slated to release on the aforementioned date. Now, for those interested to know whether the remake is worth buying, here is a breakdown of everything players should know about Mafia: Definitive Edition.<\/em><\/p>\n

As previously mentioned, Mafia: Definitive Edition<\/em> is a full-fledged remake of the 2002 original game. According to Hangar 13, players can expect a faithful reimagining of the classic Mafia<\/em> with new assets<\/a>\u00a0and an expanded story. Of course, veteran players who enjoyed the missions from the original game would be happy to know that every single one of them will be carried over to the remake. While Mafia: Defininitive Edition<\/em> follows the same story of Tommy Angelo, several new additions are introduced in the remake such as motorcycles, which is a first in the series.<\/p>\n

In terms of gameplay, the remake is based on the gameplay of Mafia 3<\/em>. However, those longing for the original 2002 experience shouldn’t fret given that Mafia: Definitive Edition<\/em> will include a Classic Difficulty setting,<\/a> which is the hardest difficulty in the game and will change some gameplay mechanics including ammunition management that makes it closer to the experience of the 2002 original.<\/p>\n

In Game Rant’s interview<\/a> with Mafia: Definitive Edition’s<\/em> composer, Jesse Harlin, he told us that one of the largest improvements made in the remake went into the development of its soundtrack. It is worth remembering that Harlin was also behind the blues music from Mafia 3<\/em>. However, Hangar 13 saw it fit to approach the soundtrack to orchestral music. When asked why the huge change is sound, Harlin stated that they wanted to get into the characters’ heads, and\u00a0because most of them came from Italy and were born at the end of the 19th century, Harlin and his team decided that\u00a0orchestral music is the best fit for the game.<\/p>\n

Moreover, Harlin told Game Rant that during the development of the game’s soundtrack, the team tried to steer clear from any music related to the mafia genre<\/a> as seen in pop culture like the Godfather<\/em>. The composer also revealed that during the development of the game’s music, he had “accidentally re-written Bond music again,” which prompted him to rewrite and reproduce the track for an E3 trailer, weeks before the show. In the end, Harlin revealed he hopes the soundtrack will help with the immersion of players in the upcoming game.<\/p>\n

The first is part of the Mafia Trilogy,<\/em> which includes the Definitive Editions of\u00a0Mafia 2<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>and 3<\/em> that are already available to play now, with the remake of the first game releasing on September 25. The trilogy is available to purchase for $59.99, and is available for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, those who are only interested in the full-fledged remake of Mafia<\/em><\/a>\u00a0can\u00a0pre-order Mafia: Definitive Edition<\/em>\u00a0now for $39.99. The game will release on September 25 for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Pre-ordering the game will reward players with several goodies such as The Chicago Outfit that includes an exclusive player outfit called The Don, a vehicle called the Smith V12-Limousine, and a special Gold Semi-Automatic Weapon.<\/p>\n
