But the title&#8217;s developer, Insomniac, made a quiet announcement that is proving to be a bombshell on Twitter.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/spider-man\/\"><em>Marvel&#8217;s Spider-Man<\/em><\/a><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>was received\u00a0as one of the PS4&#8217;s best-received superhero titles, featuring a mix of puzzle solving, web-slinging, and crime-fighting. Now, fans are gearing up for the release of <em>Spider-Man: Miles Morales,\u00a0<\/em>which will be arriving on both the PS4 and PS5 this November. However, Insomniac&#8217;s decision to release a digital remaster of 2018&#8217;s\u00a0<em>Spider-Man\u00a0<\/em>for the PS5 alongside\u00a0<em>Miles Morales<\/em> is proving to be more controversial than the company likely anticipated.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/spider-man-ps5-remaster-saves-physical-release\/\">Spider-Man Remaster Confirms Disappointing Details<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>When Insomniac revealed that the original game&#8217;s save files would be incompatible with the remaster, many gamers vented their frustrations on Twitter. Some users called the decision laziness, while others cited the remaster as a ploy to boost sales for\u00a0<em>Miles Morales<\/em>. The latter criticism seems particularly apt, given the fact that\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/spider-man-miles-morales-ultimate-edition-ps4-remaster\/\">the\u00a0<em>Spider-Man<\/em> remaster is included with\u00a0<em>Miles Morales<\/em>&#8216; ultimate edition<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/insomniacgames\/status\/1307707909120299012\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>While gamers&#8217; frustrations are understandable and the omitted feature seems like a serious oversight, it also seems like an inconvenience that applies to a very specific subset of players. Those who are completely new to Insomniac&#8217;s\u00a0<em>Spider-Man\u00a0<\/em>saga will be starting fresh anyway, while\u00a0many\u00a0of those who started the original will have played the title to completion. Therefore, the wall-crawlers hit hardest by the lack of cross-platform saves are those who started the game, but have yet to finish it.<\/p>\n<p>That problem may apply to a larger contingent of players than expected, however.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/spider-man-miles-morales-ultimate-edition-ps4-remaster\/\"><em>Spider-Man<\/em>&#8216;s enormous slice of NYC is saturated with things to do<\/a>, and the game has a lengthy campaign. Lapsed players would likely relish the opportunity to finish what they started on next-gen hardware before stepping into Miles&#8217; shoes.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ImGamerBlink\/status\/1308464239313551360\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The lack of cross-save support isn&#8217;t the only omission\u00a0that has fans crying foul.\u00a0Insomniac confirmed that <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/marvels-spider-man-ps5-remaster-physical-release\/\">the\u00a0<em>Spider-Man<\/em>\u00a0remaster will not be receiving a physical release<\/a>, which had many fans decrying the release as a low-effort move.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/cdubv85\/status\/1308445740142858245\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Despite those complaints,\u00a0the remaster is more than a straight port with shinier graphics. Insomniac has revealed that\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegamer.com\/spider-man-remaster-suits-trophies\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Spider-Man\u00a0<\/em>for PS5 will include new suits and trophies<\/a>, adding some extra value\u00a0for gamers who are gung-ho to start fresh.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/yrokaz_nworb\/status\/1308138120643305475\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>It is also worth noting that not all feedback to the announcement was negative. Some players expressed enthusiasm at being able to replay the game with new improvements. Other gamers pointed out that remasters are often released without cross-platform support for saves or progression.
