On Monday, it was revealed that <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/microsoft-bethesda-elder-scrolls-skyrim-fallout\/\">Microsoft has acquired ZeniMax Media<\/a> for $7.5 billion, which gives it ownership over\u00a0developers\u00a0like\u00a0Bethesda, Arkane Studios, and id Software. It seems like this new purchase by Microsoft is already starting to pay off for Xbox, which announced today that\u00a0<em><strong>Doom Eternal<\/strong><\/em> will be coming to Xbox Game Pass\u00a0soon.<\/p>\n<p>Xbox Game Pass subscribers can look forward to playing\u00a0<em>Doom Eternal\u00a0<\/em>on their Xbox One consoles on October 1, with\u00a0PC Game Pass players getting the game later in 2020. This reveal comes after the <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/xbox-teases-doom-coming-game-pass-soon\/\">Xbox Game Pass Twitter account teased the Slayer&#8217;s arrival<\/a> on its\u00a0service with a fake email that had multiple hidden phrases including\u00a0&#8220;LOOK BELOW&#8221; and &#8220;THE SLAYER IS COMING.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/microsoft-bethesda-acquisition-game-pass-elder-scrolls-skyrim-fallout-doom\/\">The Microsoft-Bethesda Acquisition Just Blew Up Game Pass<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The press release put out by Xbox today goes on to remind fans that\u00a0<em>Doom Eternal<\/em>&#8216;s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/doom-eternal-ancient-gods-part-one-release-date-price-enemies\/\"><em>The Ancient Gods &#8211; Part One<\/em><\/a> DLC will be releasing on October 20 on the Xbox Store. However, whether or not the new DLC will be apart of Xbox Game Pass&#8217; offering is unclear. That being said, Xbox has added DLC for first-party titles on Game Pass at no additional cost before, such as\u00a0<em>The Master Chief Collection<\/em>, so it doesn&#8217;t seem outside the realm of possibility.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/XboxGamePass\/status\/1309161170818019328?s=20\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><em>Doom Eternal\u00a0<\/em>coming to Game Pass also spells good things for those who pre-ordered\u00a0the Xbox Series X or S. Bethesda confirmed that both\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegamer.com\/doom-eternal-eso-ps5-xsx-upgrades\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Doom Eternal\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0<em>The Elder Scrolls Online\u00a0<\/em>would both be receiving free next-gen upgrades<\/a>\u00a0last month, so players who managed to get their hands on a Series X pre-order can take comfort in the fact they will be able to rip and tear in 4K once it launches in November.<\/p>\n<p>While Xbox fans will likely be excited to pick up the Doomslayer&#8217;s latest adventure through Game Pass, Nintendo Switch\u00a0players are likely less happy. Despite\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/doom-eternal\/\">Doom Eternal<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>releasing on March 20, 2020, the promised Switch port still has not been released, primarily due to the developers having to work from home during the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>Marty Stratton, executive producer at id Software, recently gave an update to players saying the <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/doom-eternal-switch-port-soon\/\">Nintendo Switch port was very close to being finished<\/a>.
