The mod, called &#8220;Year of the Dragon,&#8221; won ModDB&#8217;s &#8220;Mod of the Year&#8221; awards in 2018 and 2019.\u00a0According to the mod page, an Uplink Demo Release is scheduled for November.<\/p>\n<p>Playing <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/half-life\/\"><em>Half-Life<\/em><\/a> as <em>Spyro<\/em> may not seem like the most natural thing in the world, but videos of the demo show very natural\u00a0<em>Spyro-<\/em>esque gameplay. Gordan Freeman&#8217;s glock has been replaced by\u00a0<em>Spyro<\/em>&#8216;s flame, which can roast head-crabs and other <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/half-life-scariest-creatures-ranked\/\">terrifying <em>Half-Life\u00a0<\/em>creatures<\/a>, no problem. He can head-butt vortigaunts and scientists alike, then collect the gems they drop.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/half-life-2-alyx-opening-vr-project-17\/\">Half-Life 2 Fans Remaking Opening Sequence in Half-Life: Alyx<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Note, this mod is for the original <em>Half-Life,\u00a0<\/em>not\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/half-life-fan-remake-black-mesa-full-release\/\">the\u00a0<em>Black Mesa<\/em> remake<\/a>. The developer has confirmed that <em>Spyro<\/em> will\u00a0be able to squeeze into\u00a0an HEV suit eventually, but right now most of the work is focused on making the full\u00a0<em>Half-Life\u00a0<\/em>campaign available in the new play style and refining <em>Spyro<\/em>&#8216;s controls. Right now, <em>Spyro<\/em> pays gems to use the healing and HEV charging stations, but the developer has indicated that this will most likely change to something involving\u00a0Sparx instead.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"480\" height=\"270\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/tFAcPifJHwc?start=329&#038;feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Some may enjoy the minor detail that, due to the fact that\u00a0<em>Spyro<\/em> has none of Freeman&#8217;s weapons, trip mines have been removed from the game in this mod. This is because the trip mines placed by soldiers in <em>Half-Life<\/em>\u00a0are, as far as the game code is concerned, the same as the ones Freeman can pick up and use.<\/p>\n<p>The mod also comes with a &#8220;<em>Spyro<\/em> Development Toolkit&#8221; which will allow map creators to make their own <em>Spyro<\/em> levels in the <em>Half-Life<\/em> engine.
