The Zack Snyder cut of\u00a0Justice League<\/em><\/a> is getting a surprising amount of investment from Warner Bros. with recent reports revealing that the company will in fact be spending the time and money to shoot new scenes with the original actors. That would seem to open up a lot of new possibilities for where the director’s cut can go and what can be done with it that simply re-cutting old footage wouldn’t allow for. Not everyone is on-board though, as Henry Cavill has stated he will not be returning to shoot new footage for his role as Superman.<\/p>\n

Although a recent report indicated that Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, and Ray Fisher were set to return<\/a> and film more scenes, this is contradicted by statements from Cavill himself. During an interview for\u00a0Enola Holmes<\/em>,\u00a0in which\u00a0 he plays Enola’s big brother Sherlock, he was asked directly about whether he would be involved in reshoots. The actor had this to say: “Not shooting anything additional. No. It\u2019s all stuff that has been already done.” So it would seem that, at least for Cavill, there is no expectation of returning to shoot more footage.<\/p>\n

It is worth noting that this statement was made slightly before the reports of re-shoots, but nonetheless it was recent enough that either things have changed very rapidly, or Cavill has not been asked to return quite yet. (Or maybe the whole thing is just a misunderstanding.) Whether or not Cavill reconsiders, or is asked to do new work as Superman, it would seem that the reports of Cavill flying out to LA with Snyder and new shoots occurring imminently is not as accurate as it seemed.<\/p>\n

As of right now, Cavill is currently in London shooting season 2 of\u00a0The Witcher<\/em> for Netflix<\/a>, and there’s no plans to wrap any time soon. As for the Snyder cut itself, Cavill emphasized that he was taking an outsider role in the project, and doesn’t know much about how it’s shaping up. “Obviously I don\u2019t know how things are going to evolve and change and adapt depending on now a different length of movie and whatever may happen in post-production. Whatever lessons may be learned from what is it four years since Justice League<\/em> came out? Four years\u2019 worth of fan reaction. For me\u2026I\u2019m now just watching the party.”<\/p>\n
