In March, studios temporarily suspended production on multiple film and television projects in response to the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. The CW’s The Flash<\/strong><\/em><\/a> and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow <\/em>were among the projects impacted by the shutdown, but now they and several more Greg Berlanti shows are gearing up to resume filming in October.<\/p>\n

Riverdale\u00a0<\/em>and Batwoman<\/em> started production<\/a> in Vancouver in September while Supergirl<\/em> is eyeing a\u00a0September 28 start date for its sixth and final season. The later start date for Supergirl<\/em> is partly to accommodate the pregnancy of lead star Melissa Benoist and is\u00a0conditional on a pending\u00a0deal with the local unions to adhere by\u00a0SAG’s testing guidelines.<\/p>\n

Deadline reports The Flash<\/em> is aiming to\u00a0return to Vancouver to begin production on its seventh season<\/a> on October 1st. Meanwhile, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow<\/em> hopes to start filming its sixth season in the Canadian city just days later on October 5th. Mid-October start dates are being eyed for Superman\u00a0& Lois<\/em>, Titans<\/em>, and\u00a0Kung-Fu, <\/em>the latter of which is a new addition to Greg Berlanti’s library of television projects.\u00a0Stargirl<\/em>, which will air exclusively on The CW for its second season, is gearing up to begin filming its sophomore year at the end of October.<\/p>\n

The previous seasons of The Flash<\/em>, Supergirl<\/em>, and Riverdale<\/em> were cut short due to the pandemic, leaving\u00a0certainly storylines unresolved or altered.\u00a0Actress\u00a0Marisol Nichols<\/a>, for example, was originally planning to leave Riverdale<\/em> after the fourth season but she has since confirmed\u00a0her return for portions of season five.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, the postponed start dates for the new seasons of each show has forced The CW to delay the premiere dates until next year<\/a>. To make up for the lack of original programming in the fall season, the network has been airing acquired programming such as DC Universe’s Swamp Thing<\/em> and\u00a0the improvisational\u00a0comedy\u00a0show Whose Line Is It Anyway?<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The Flash<\/em> season 7 premieres on The CW in 2021.<\/p>\n
