The great thing about RPGs like\u00a0Mass Effect<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Jade Empire<\/em>\u00a0is that they let you make meaningful decisions. You can play as either the hero or the villain.<\/p>\n

7 <\/span>Star Wars Knights Of The Old Republic II: The Sith Lords<\/h2>\n

Although the first Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic<\/em> was created by BioWare, the sequel was outsourced to another developer. CD Projekt Red, the developer behind Cyberpunk 2077<\/em>, has done it again with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.<\/em> It is one of the most immersive RPGs available. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt<\/em> has dialogue options\u00a0affecting game outcomes like in Mass Effect<\/em>. Although they set in different universes, there are similarities between the two games. There is a lengthier learning curve for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt<\/em>, but get past that, and you’ll be hooked during its over 50-hour campaign.<\/a><\/p>\n

5 <\/span>Anthem<\/h2>\n

One of developer BioWare’s most ambitious and latest projects is\u00a0Anthem.<\/em>\u00a0It’s an action role-playing game with unique gameplay. Using flight controls while piloting an exosuit is unlike any other game.<\/p>\n

Unlike in Mass Effect<\/em>, Anthem’s<\/em> dialogue options are inconsequential. The game presents you with dialogue options, but they are meaningless, meaning you can skip through most of the game without them. Anthem<\/em> had issues at launch, but a turnaround has since made the game better.<\/p>\n

4 <\/span>Alpha Protocol<\/h2>\n

You’ll find either BioWare or Obsidian Entertainment created a significant number of games on this listicle. It’s not a coincidence that the two companies’ games are similar since they have collaborated on more than one occasion.<\/p>\n

Alpha Protocol<\/em>\u00a0is a role-playing action game that was published by Sega. The game was inspired by fictional spy characters like Jason Bourne and James Bond. It’s a divisive game people criticized for lack of polish, but there is a game with enjoyable RPG elements beneath the surface.<\/p>\n

3 <\/span>Fallout: New Vegas<\/h2>\n

The Fallout<\/em> series was arguably at its peak back in the days of games like Fallout: New Vegas<\/em> and Fallout 3.<\/em> These games helped define a generation alongside titles like Mass Effect.<\/em><\/p>\n

This retro RPG has a heavily rumored remake or sequel that may prove credible.<\/p>\n

1 <\/span>Mass Effect 2<\/h2>\n

If you enjoyed the original Mass Effect,<\/em> it makes sense to follow-up with the first sequel. Mass Effect 2<\/em><\/a> is considered the best game in the series for its masterclass storytelling, dynamic characters, and gameplay.<\/p>\n

Mass Effect 2<\/em> is arguably developer BioWare at its peak. Characters like the Illusive Man make the game too memorable.<\/a> It’s only a matter of time before the Mass Effect Trilogy Remastered<\/em> releases. For now, we can take comfort in the fact Mass Effect 2<\/em> has hardly aged.<\/p>\n
