When Netflix announced Dragon\u2019s Dogma<\/i><\/a> was getting an anime adaptation, one might have thought it was going to set itself up to be another continuing season of episodes. While there are certainly things that were never answered and or plot points that were left on cliffhangers, this season could essentially be a one and done situation.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

That is to say it wraps most things up. Some of these elements aren\u2019t wrapped neatly with a bow and are more like hurriedly tied together with newspaper, but all and all complete. For the sake of argument, let\u2019s go through questions<\/a> that weren\u2019t answered which will indeed include spoilers.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

8 <\/span>What Happened To The Wolves?\u00a0<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

The Wolves were treated like a huge deal in the first episode. The knights gear up like an invading army is approaching. However, they are quickly forgotten when the dragon appears. Why even add The Wolves in the first place if they\u2019re not even going to be addressed? It doesn\u2019t make a whole lot of sense<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

7 <\/span>Why Was Ethan Chosen?<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Why did the dragon attack the village along with choosing Ethan to be one of the Arisen? Based on future episodes, it seems like the dragon has decimated other areas too so that part at least can be explained. How he chooses a successor, as it were, doesn\u2019t really get addressed. One can assume it\u2019s because he senses rage<\/a> in his heart, but it\u2019s definitely a sentiment left on the table.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

6 <\/span>Who Was The Dragon?<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

At the end of the anime the dragon reveals he was once a human like Ethan. He is tired of killing things and wants to end his life and pass on the curse. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

He never discusses how long he has been a dragon or who he was before. Was it a month, year, or longer? For that matter if he is conscious of this fact, why does he kill in the first place? Why do any of these dragons?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

5 <\/span>Where Did Hannah Come From?<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Hannah appears out of nowhere and it is never addressed. For those unaware, in the games Pawns are like ethereal beings that come from a different plane. It\u2019s a bit more complex than that but that\u2019s as good an explanation as any. Why leave out this idea in the show? Those new to the anime might be lost and on that note, and it\u2019s not like these properties are 1:1 so maybe that\u2019s why it doesn\u2019t make sense<\/a> and or wasn\u2019t explained. Something bigger could come in the later seasons. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

4 <\/span>Balthazar And Simon<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

In episode three, Theo, Elizabeth, Balthazar, and Simon are introduced. In the end, out of nowhere, Theo kills Elizabeth leaving the two knights high and dry. Why don\u2019t they join Ethan and Hannah in the hunt for the dragon? <\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

It would seem beneficial to them to fight for the land. They both want fame and glory and are skilled enough. They could have at least joined for a little bit until they reached their destination.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

3 <\/span>Why Not Build A Party?<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

That brings into question a similar line of thought. If this dragon is so dangerous, why does Ethan believe he, and one other knight, can take it on? It would seem like Hannah, as the analyst, would encourage Ethan to hunt other party members down. Again, Balthazar and Simon would have been great for the team. For the two of them to take on and actually kill the dragon alone, magical powers or no, seems a little farfetched. They could have even summoned more Pawns<\/a>. That was kind of the whole point of the video game: build a party. This anime didn’t need to be a direct translation of the game, but a bigger constant cast could have really helped it along with making it easier to swallow the idea that a party can take down a dragon rather than two.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

2 <\/span>Was This A Prequel?<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

While the concept of the Seven Deadly Sins was not directly in the game, the idea of being tested was. Essentially an Arisen must face the dragon and depending on their willpower and noble sense of being<\/a>, they may become a being known as The Seneschal. Since Ethan fails at this, it could mean that the dragon players face in the game is actually supposed to be Ethan. That would retcon some things though. That\u2019s more of a theory than a question but the thought remains the same. Was this a prequel?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

1 <\/span>Why Doesn\u2019t Hannah Disappear?\u00a0<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

On a final note for the Pawns, how is Hannah still around? Since Ethan, as a human, is no more, she should disappear. When he, and others, became an Arisen she appeared out of thin air like they do. They are supposed to be tied to the warrior in that form only, but she survives. Why and how? And if Pawns don\u2019t disappear when their asters become dragons does that mean more Pawns will show up in the future on her quest? It doesn\u2019t make any sense<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n
