Along with\u00a0<em>Clock Tower\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0<em>Silent Hill<\/em>,\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/resident-evil\/\">Resident Evil<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>helped pioneer the survival horror genre with\u00a0its initial release. The franchise has come a long way since then, and is about to break ground on a brand-new CG movie.<\/p>\n<p><em>Resident Evil\u00a0<\/em>has been adapted for cinema before. There were a series of movies starring Milla Jovovich\u00a0released\u00a0from the early 2000s until\u00a02016. <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/resident-evil-movie-reboot-announced\/\">While a reboot of the first\u00a0<em>Resident Evil<\/em> movie in this series was announced<\/a>\u00a0in 2017, no official news has been unveiled regarding the film&#8217;s release. In the meantime, fans of the series have a new piece of\u00a0<em>Resident Evil\u00a0<\/em>media to look forward to on Netflix.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/resident-evil-4-remake-tests-comparisons-re1-re2-re3-lessons\/amp\/\">Resident Evil 4 Remake Has One Big Advantage Compared to RE1, RE2, and RE3<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>A trailer for the upcoming\u00a0<em>Resident Evil\u00a0<\/em>CG movie has been released\u00a0on the\u00a0official Netflix Portugal Twitter page. This movie is the second\u00a0<em>Resident Evil\u00a0<\/em>exclusive content confirmed to be in the works for the streaming service, as there is also a\u00a0live action <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegamer.com\/netflix-resident-evil-series-confirmed-leaked-plot-synopsis\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Netflix\u00a0<em>Resident Evil<\/em>\u00a0TV series<\/a>. However, this movie appears\u00a0to be taking quite a different approach.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NetflixPT\/status\/1309923190223892483\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Not only is the movie completely in CG, it also seems to have taken a few notes from the recent remakes of earlier\u00a0<em>Resident Evil\u00a0<\/em>games in terms of design\u00a0and style. The trailer opens with a young woman exploring a decrepit house. Judging by her\u00a0red leather jacket, it could be <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/resident-evil-2-claire-redfield-motorcycle-harley-davidson\/amp\/\">Claire Redfield<\/a>, but she looks older than Claire so it&#8217;s too early to tell. The woman finds a dead body surrounded by shotgun shells, and the video\u00a0cuts to its title card.<\/p>\n<p>After the title card fades away, the teaser shows one\u00a0man saving another from a zombie. The man is revealed to be <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/resident-evil-facts-leon-kennedy\/\">Leon Kennedy<\/a>, one of the most recognizable faces in\u00a0<em>Resident Evil<\/em>. Leon appears to be wearing a suit, meaning the scene likely takes\u00a0place after some fancy event, but\u00a0Leon&#8217;s presence in this movie ultimately leads to more questions than answers.<\/p>\n<p>Based on what was shown, it&#8217;s hard to pin down where exactly in the\u00a0<em>Resident Evil\u00a0<\/em>timeline this movie takes place. Leon looks similar to his design in <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/resident-evil-2-reviews\/\">the remake of\u00a0<em>Resident Evil 2<\/em><\/a>, with the addition of some facial hair. If the woman at\u00a0the beginning is Claire Redfield, then it&#8217;s possible this movie takes place after the incident at Raccoon City.
