One\u00a0<em><strong>Hades<\/strong><\/em> fan noticed an intricate detail about how interactive the writing for the Greek mythology-themed game truly is, and his reaction led to an interesting explanation from Supergiant Games writer Greg Kasavin.<\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/hades\/\">Hades<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>has been enjoying high sales numbers, especially for an indie game, after leaving early access not too long ago. As of just a few days ago, <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/hades-game-million-units-sold\/\"><em>Hades<\/em> has sold 1 million copies<\/a>\u00a0in addition to\u00a0garnering critical acclaim. After two years in early access and the shorter amount of time that it&#8217;s been available, fans have spent a lot of time hunting for and appreciating the small details that make the game so enjoyable to them.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/hades-pet-cerberus-achievement\/\">Under 15 Percent of Hades Players Have Cerberus Petting Achievement on Steam<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Mike Mahardy, a prominent figure in the video games industry, pointed out a detail he noticed in his save file: one of the bosses, Megaera, insulted the player for\u00a0using his advantages from Zagreus&#8217; mirror, claiming that was the only reason Zagreus defeated her. This piqued Mahardy&#8217;s curiosity, so when he cleared the upgrades and defeated Megaera again, she acknowledged his in-game actions. <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/hades-review-roundup\/\"><em>Hades<\/em>&#8216; character interactions<\/a> have been critically lauded, and this looks like just one of many small details that make the game so immersive to many players.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/mmahardy\/status\/1309179746429931522?\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/kasavin\/status\/1309181714103635968?ref_src=https:\/\/gamerant.com\/hades-writer-meg-detail\/twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1309181714103635968%7Ctwgr%5Eshare_3&#038;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.gamespot.com%2Farticles%2Fhades-writer-explains-script-philosophy-after-player-discovers-incredible-detail%2F1100-6482650%2F%22 frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Greg Kasavin responded to this by saying there are actually three different versions of the conversation coded into the game depending on Zagreus&#8217; relationship with Megaera, and adds that the writers kept a mindset of noticing what characters would talk about and notice. This philosophy is what led to so many character interactions being coded in, and that the <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/hades-supergiant-game-epic-store\/\"><em>Hades<\/em> early access<\/a> was integral to seeing what players responded well to and what the devs should keep.<\/p>\n<p>Kasavin acknowledges that this growing complexity in the game became difficult to handle when the subplots expanded, and it was at times hard to manage. Sometimes <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/the-last-of-us-2-glass-breaking-complex-detail\/\">complex in-game details<\/a> can bloat the development time, but they&#8217;re often what draw players to the game again and again.<\/p>\n<p>Part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegamer.com\/hades-boon-replay-escape\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reason <em>Hades<\/em> is so replayable<\/a> is that little details like this make each save different depending on actions the player took and how they interacted with the world and NPCs around them.
