While there\u2019s more to The Legend of Zelda<\/em> than its protagonist Link,<\/a> the image of the Hylian hero brandishing the Master Sword has become emblematic of the series. With his trusty Epona, his customary green tunic, and the Blade of Evil\u2019s Bane,\u00a0Link is a consummate hero, having vanquished evil and saved the world countless times across his various incarnations in the series\u2019 complex timeline.<\/p>\n

The legendary Master Sword has made about as many appearances as Link himself, but it\u2019s not always the mighty weapon it seems to be\u2026 at least, not at first. In several titles, such as The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker<\/em> (in which Link was originally supposed to age, incredibly)<\/a> it must be upgraded first. This is also true in The Legend of Zelda: To Link To The Past<\/em>.<\/p>\n

7 <\/span>Obtain The Titan\u2019s Mitt From Blind\u2019s Hideout<\/h2>\n

For starters, the player must progress until they reach the fourth dungeon of the Dark World, the imposing Thieves\u2019 Town. Head over to the Village of Outcasts, Interact with that suspect-looking Gargoyle and enter this challenging area.<\/p>\n

This short and sweet dungeon culminates in a tense battle against Blind himself. Those floating heads are all kinds of disturbing, but but dodge those fireballs and the Master Sword will soon bring him down.<\/p>\n

6 <\/span>Save The Cursed Dwarven Swordsmith<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

On your way into the Village of Outcasts, you may have noticed a peculiar-looking cursed figure trapped behind huge blocks that Link couldn\u2019t lift. With the strength of the Titan\u2019s Mitt, he now can and it should be gamers\u2019 first priority to do so.<\/p>\n

Return to the entrance to Thieves\u2019 Town and proceed a little to the left. Move the block(s) out of the way and the Cursed Dwarven Swordsmith will ask the player to reunite him with his brother. It\u2019ll certainly pay off. Note that the Magic Mirror (given by the Lost Old Man on Death Mountain) is required to turn the swordsmith back to human form.<\/p>\n

5 <\/span>Temper The Sword<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

The Legend of Zelda<\/em> series is well known for its cast of quirky characters,<\/a> and these swordsmith siblings are no exception. With the first brother in tow, head over to Kakariko Village (in the Light World now), then enter the building to the east of this area.<\/p>\n

This is the brothers\u2019 workshop, and they\u2019re delighted to be together again. So delighted, in fact, that they\u2019ll offer to strengthen the Master Sword for just 10 Rupees! Take them up on this deal, leave the building, return momentarily, and the Tempered Sword\/Master Sword Lv.2 will be Link’s. It boasts twice the attack power of the Master Sword.<\/p>\n

4 <\/span>Beat The Ice Palace<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

To acquire the strongest sword in the game, players will have to do quite a bit more work. Having claimed the Tempered Sword, your next move is to collect Crystals #5 and #6. One of these awaits in the Ice Palace, a tricky little dungeon in which the Fire Rod will be a real blessing Keep a cool head (pun intended), take your time with each room, and you\u2019ll prevail over dungeon boss Kholdstare and escape with the handy Blue Mail.<\/p>\n

3 <\/span>Beat Misery Mire<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

After acquiring the Titan\u2019s Mitt, the player can take on the Ice Palace and the next dungeon Misery Mire in whichever order they prefer. They\u2019re \u2018supposed\u2019 to be tackled in the order described here, though, so head to the Desert warp spot (number six), pop to the Dark World, and use the Ether Medallion (also found on Death Mountain) to open the door to Misery Mire.<\/p>\n

Again, caution is advised here, as there are some tricky hookshot\/bottomless pit platforming sections and long-ranged enemies to deal with here. While Vitreous can be a pain with its far-reaching lightning and those eyeballs, well-aimed shots with the bow will dispatch it relatively quickly.<\/p>\n

2 <\/span>Collect The Super Bomb\u00a0& Head To The Pyramid Of Power<\/h2>\n

With both these dungeons completed, the player will have access to a\u00a0fantastic item<\/a> that\u2019s crucial to unlocking the final sword upgrade. Head back to the Bomb Shop in the Dark World and you\u2019ll find that the Super Bomb is now available to purchase. Buy one and head to the Pyramid of Power.<\/p>\n

On arrival, you\u2019ll notice a very conspicuous crack on the left side of the pyramid. Any gamer worth their salt knows what this means: introduce that part of the pyramid to the business end of a Super Bomb and a secret entrance will be revealed.<\/p>\n

1 <\/span>Offer The Fairy The Tempered Sword<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Inside the hole players have freshly blown in the side of the Pyramid, they\u2019ll find a fairy. Fairies have long been considered some of the most useful NPCs in the series in their various forms, offering healing and revival for Link, upgrades for various aspects of our hero and his equipment and so on.<\/p>\n

This particular fairy has a very special purpose. Offer her the Tempered Sword,\u00a0tell her you dropped it, and\u00a0she\u2019ll give\u00a0Link the Golden Sword. This magnificent blade has double the power of the Tempered Sword, quadrupling the damage Link can wield in comparison to the original Master Sword. It was a little tough to acquire, but certainly worth it. The very strong Silver Arrows can also be obtained here in the same fashion by offering the Bow.<\/p>\n
