Since its release, Animal Crossing: New Horizons<\/strong><\/em> has had a\u00a0steady release of new features<\/a> re-introducing series staples like Leif’s bushes and diving for various sea collectibles, but today an entirely new feature makes it way to the relaxing world of talking animals with pumpkin gardening.<\/p>\n

In celebration of the rise of Fall, New Horizons<\/em><\/a> has introduced the ability to grow pumpkins on the fertile grounds of the player’s island home just in time for Halloween<\/a>. Pumpkins, once fully grown, will then be able to be used for various crafting items similarly to updates past.<\/p>\n

Pumpkin seeds can be purchased from a few different sources. Players can find the seeds daily at Nook’s Cranny for 280 bells, as well as from the visiting garden sloth, Leif,<\/a> who will sell them at half the price of the Nookling twins at a measly 140 bells. Alternatively, players can also pick a pumpkin while visiting a friend’s island and then plant that pumpkin once back at their home island.<\/p>\n

Much like the flowers in New Horizons<\/em><\/a>, pumpkins require daily watering to truly flourish and grow, but unlike flowers, pumpkins thrive the most when watered at least three times a day. Each pumpkin begins as a lowly set of leaves and will progressively grow for four days until its ready for harvest. The more the player waters their pumpkin, the more pumpkins will sprout from the initial planting spot. Here’s how it works: watering a pumpkin zero times results in only one pumpkin yield, watering a pumpkin once results in two pumpkins, and watering the pumpkin multiple times for the four days will result in a hefty three pumpkin yield.<\/p>\n

Pumpkins also come in a variety of different colors, which all have their own rarity. Orange pumpkins are the most common, white and yellow are considered uncommon, while green pumpkins are the rarest. Each color will be needed for the various crafting items available during this season so players should be sure to purchase as many seeds as possible while watering frequently to guarantee they have enough to craft the various pumpkin themed decorations including the pumpkin scarecrow, the pumpkin fence, and the pumpkin stack to name a few. Recipes are found by giving candy to the villagers or by gifting Jack a Lollipop<\/a>.<\/p>\n

While this update may seem a bit daunting at first, it should not take players long to start yielding a mass of pumpkins as long as they maintain diligence with the watering. The crafting recipes may be dealt randomly, but New Horizons<\/em> lively community<\/a> is always there to help their fellow players out.<\/p>\n
