Insomniac\u2019s Spider-Man<\/em> game on the PS4 will soon be heading to the PS5 as Spider-Man Remastered<\/em><\/strong>, a next-gen upscaling that will be included with the Ultimate Edition of Spider Man: Miles Morales<\/em><\/a>. Being able to take one of the current generation\u2019s best open-world action games into the next will be a big enough selling point for a lot of fans, but Insomniac has assured that the remaster will offer more than just spruced-up visuals.<\/p>\n

This week has seen several developers sharing details on their PS5 launch titles on the PlayStation, and today it was Insomniac\u2019s turn with Spider-Man Remastered<\/em><\/a>. Stressing that the PS5 version will be a \u201cfull next-gen remastering\u201d of the 2018 PS4 game, Community Director James Stevenson opened up on the ways it will take advantage of the PS5\u2019s advanced hardware and unique features.<\/p>\n

As a PS5 title, the remaster will utilize the console\u2019s Solid-State Drive (SSD) to virtually eliminate loading screens. This is fitting since Spider-Man<\/em> was the first game used to demonstrate the PS5 SSD\u2019s faster load speeds<\/a>. That being said, Stevenson assured fans that they\u2019ll have the option to turn on the humorous fast-travel animations of Spidey taking the subway if they want.<\/p>\n

Spider Man Remastered<\/em> will also sport upgraded features like Spatial 3D Audio with compatible headphones and support for the haptic feedback and adaptive triggers of the PS5\u2019s DualSense controller<\/a>, though Stevenson didn\u2019t say how the game will use these. Additionally, the remaster\u2019s photo mode will be enhanced with a number of new features being developed for Spider-Man: Miles Morales<\/em>, including the ability to place lights in the environment and change Spidey\u2019s suit after a shot has been lined up.<\/p>\n

All of these new features will be on top of the graphical overhaul the game will receive on the PS5. Environments will be enhanced with ray-traced reflections, ambient shadows, and an updated weather system, while character models will sport updated skin, eyes, hair, and more. The most noticeable change, though, will be how Spider-Man Remastered<\/em> has redone Peter Parker\u2019s face<\/a>, as the remaster will be replacing John Bubniak\u2019s original facial capture performance with one by Ben Jordan.<\/p>\n

Not all of the news surrounding the remaster has been good. Insomniac has confirmed that Spider-Man Remastered<\/em> won\u2019t have a standalone, and that the game won\u2019t support cross-saves with the PS4 version of Spider-Man<\/em><\/a>, a move that has left fans rather unhappy. Still, with all of the upgrades Insomniac is bringing to the game for the next-generation, it\u2019s not likely that these missing features will do much to dim most fans\u2019 excitement for it and Miles Morales<\/em>\u2019 release.<\/p>\n

Spider-Man Remastered<\/em><\/strong> will launch on November 12 for PS5, bundled with Spider-Man: Miles Morales Ultimate Edition<\/em>.<\/p>\n
