Interactive\u00a0shocked the video game community when it announced <em><strong>Hogwarts Legacy<\/strong><\/em>, which is the <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/harry-potter-rpg-rumors-hogwarts-legacy-good-bad\/\">long-rumored open-world RPG game<\/a> that is set in the universe of the <em>Harry Potter<\/em> franchise. Of course,\u00a0fans were ecstatic with the announcement with some\u00a0fans saying that <em>Hogwarts Legacy<\/em> is the game that they have always dreamed of as a child.<\/p>\n<p>However,\u00a0immediately after the announcement of <em>Hogwarts Legacy<\/em>, the game soon found itself in\u00a0hot water with some\u00a0people calling for a complete boycott of <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/harry-potter-hogwarts-legacy\/\"><em>Hogwarts Legacy<\/em><\/a>, due to its link to the\u00a0<em>Harry Potter<\/em> author, J.K. Rowling. To those unfamiliar, J.K. Rowling is\u00a0currently at the center of a controversy, after making several comments on social media that many\u00a0see\u00a0as transphobic in nature. Due to Rowling&#8217;s controversial statements, supporters of the trans community and some <em>Harry Potter<\/em> fans started a campaign to boycott anything associated with Rowling, which includes books, movies, and even video games.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/harry-potter-hogwarts-legacy-jk-rowling-2\/\">Hogwarts Legacy: How Involved is JK Rowling In The Creation of the Game?<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Due to the issue surrounding Rowling, some <em>Harry Potter<\/em> fans are now divided on whether to support the upcoming game or not. While\u00a0many\u00a0fans disagree with Rowling&#8217;s views on the trans community, some do not agree with the call to boycott the game given that the developers did nothing wrong. Up until this moment, fans were waiting on how Warner Bros. Interactive\u00a0would react to the Rowling issue, with <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/harry-potter-hogarts-legacy-good-bad-division-j-k-rowling\/\">some <em>Harry Potter<\/em> fans saying that they won&#8217;t support the game<\/a> unless the developers\u00a0make a public condemnation of\u00a0Rowling&#8217;s views. Now, it appears that Warner Bros. Interactive has broken its silence, with the studio&#8217;s President saying that Rowling is entitled to her opinions.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/jasonschreier\/status\/1311449744774922240?s=20\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>According to a tweet from Bloomberg&#8217;s Jason Schrier, Warner Bros. Games David Haddad\u00a0responded to questions raised by employees regarding <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/harry-potter-hogwarts-legacy-jk-rowling\/\">the effect of Rowling&#8217;s reputation on\u00a0<em>Hogwarts Legacy<\/em><\/a>. Haddad responded\u00a0that since J.K. Rowling is also a private citizen, she has the right to express her personal opinions on social media. To clarify, Haddad also revealed that while he does not agree with her comments on social media, he believes that Rowling has\u00a0&#8220;the right to hold her opinions.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Based on the statement released by the studio&#8217;s president, it is clear that the company is trying to distance itself from the <em>Harry Potter<\/em> author, without insulting her directly. It is worth remembering that in the Q&amp;A section of <em>Hogwarts Legacy<\/em>, Warner Bros. Interactive clarified that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegamer.com\/jk-rowling-involvement-hogwarts-legacy\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Rowling has no direct involvement in the game<\/a>, and its story is an original one. However, despite\u00a0taking place in a timeline well before <em>Harry Potter,<\/em> <em>Hogwarts Legacy<\/em> is still based on the established lore of the Wizarding World authored by J.K.
