Hyper Scape<\/em><\/strong>,\u00a0<\/strong>Ubisoft Montreal’s high-tech entry into the crowded battle royale genre, is gearing up for its second season of competitive play. Ubisoft has released a trailer showcasing some of the\u00a0new content headed to the free-to-play shooter.<\/p>\n

Releasing in August after a brief open beta in July, Hyper Scape<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>features intense duels in a Ready Player One<\/em>-esque metaverse, moderated by an AI. This AI randomly applies modifiers to the match parameters such as low-gravity or infinite ammo, while systematically erasing parts of the map\u00a0to concentrate the conflict. One of the game’s most notable features is the ability for Twitch spectators to vote on what changes the AI makes to the map, allowing for a degree of audience participation.<\/p>\n

The trailer for the new season revealed a new weapon, the Atrax, which seems to fire acidic globs that detonate after a short period of time. It also revealed a new hack\u00a0power\u2014one of Hyper Scape<\/em>‘s defining features<\/a>\u2014that allows players to spawn platforms at will. The hack will likely pair nicely with the new The Floor Is Lava game mode which coats the bottom-most level of the arena in smoldering magma.<\/p>\n
