Jedi Fallen Order\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>was one of EA’s first major forays into the\u00a0Star Wars\u00a0<\/em>universe. While there had been other triple-a\u00a0Star Wars\u00a0<\/em>games before it, namely the\u00a0Battlefront\u00a0<\/em>games<\/a>,\u00a0Fallen Order\u00a0<\/em>was the first major single-player game the company has released in its time with the license. While the game generally reviewed well,\u00a0Jedi Fallen Order\u00a0<\/em>outfits were a missed opportunity as a whole.<\/p>\n

Jedi Fallen Order\u00a0<\/em>outfits were mostly alternate versions of the default clothing, with new options for ponchos scattered around within. One DLC outfit has been added since the game released, the Inquisitor Cal skin<\/a> introduced earlier this year, but there was a lot more that could’ve been done.<\/p>\n

Of course, many players had hoped that the Jedi Fallen Order <\/em>outfits roster would’ve included some type of Jedi robe. In fact, in hindsight, it seems like a glaring omission for a game that primarily follows a Padawan transform into a full-fledged Jedi Knight after countless trials and tribulations. It’s almost too obvious though, and with a universe as broad as\u00a0Star Wars<\/em><\/a>,\u00a0<\/em>there are plenty of other things that\u00a0developer Respawn Entertainment could’ve done to spice up\u00a0Jedi Fallen Order’s\u00a0<\/em>outfit selection.<\/p>\n

Throughout\u00a0Fallen Order’s\u00a0<\/em>story, Cal visits a number of planets and takes on a number of enemies. Certainly, not all of these merit a poncho. If anything,\u00a0Jedi Fallen Order\u00a0<\/em>outfits should’ve taken a page out of an older\u00a0Star Wars\u00a0<\/em>game,\u00a0Force Unleashed<\/a>,\u00a0<\/em>which incorporated its outfits more heavily into the narrative. They made locations feel distinct, despite the fact that they could be changed more or less at will.<\/p>\n

Imagine, for instance, if\u00a0Fallen\u00a0<\/em>Order\u00a0<\/em>allowed characters to unlock a suit of Mandalorian armor after facing off against a brutal bounty hunter. It would be a great reward for players, but the experience\u00a0of the fight would also be attached to it, making it all the more memorable in the future.<\/p>\n

New outfits for specific planets would also go a long way.\u00a0Fallen Order’s\u00a0<\/em>Dathomir<\/a> plays a key role in the game, as well as hosting one of the more interesting boss fights in the game. Rewarding players with an outfit tailored for the toxic environment \u2013 through combat, exploration, or some other method \u2013 makes the connection with the location that much richer, and if it’s one players like, in particular, it can make the area it was unlocked stand out above the others.<\/p>\n

Not only did\u00a0Force Unleashed\u00a0<\/em>outshine\u00a0Jedi Fallen Order\u00a0<\/em>outfits in terms of their incorporation into the story, but\u00a0Force Unleashed\u00a0<\/em>offered a healthy selection of bonus outfits, many of which were unlocked with cheat codes. There were a large number of these, some of which allowed players to take on the look of famous\u00a0Star Wars\u00a0<\/em>characters<\/a>, like Anakin or Obi-Wan Kenobi. This was all in the name of fun, allowing players to kick back and imagine their favorite heroes and villains put in the role of an ultra-powerful force wielder.<\/p>\n

There’s no such option in\u00a0Jedi Fallen Order,\u00a0<\/em>which is a shame. Odds are that fans will one day get\u00a0Jedi Fallen Order 2<\/a>,\u00a0<\/em>continuing the story of Cal and his crew. Until then, though, fans have to live with the\u00a0Jedi Fallen Order\u00a0<\/em>outfits they have available now, and while it doesn’t put too much of a damper on the game, there’s plenty more that would’ve been cool to see.<\/p>\n

Jedi Fallen Order\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.<\/p>\n
