The PlayStation 5 is officially releasing on November 12, but it doesn’t have a clear distinction between generations. Most games are cross-generational, dismissing the idea of a true next-generation experience. Sony wants to continue supporting the Ps4 audience while allowing games to perform better on Ps5.<\/p>\n

There is no indication of when games will stop coming to both systems but, for now, most Ps4 games can be upgraded for free. New consoles can be confusing, especially right now, and some publishers are not going the free upgrade route. Hopefully, we can paint a clear picture thanks to GamesRadar<\/a> and Pushsquare<\/a>.<\/p>\n

24 <\/span>Assassin’s Creed Valhalla<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla<\/em><\/a> is Ubisoft’s attempt to integrate Vikings into their universe. It promises a combination of old Assassin’s Creed<\/a> and new Assassin’s Creed to please fans of both. This entry brings back social stealth and the RPG formula from Assassin’s Creed Odyssey<\/em><\/a>. It releases on November 10 for every platform except the Switch.<\/p>\n

23 <\/span>Borderlands 3<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

The newest Borderlands<\/a> entry did not reinvent the formula from its predecessor. It brought the same chaotic first-person shooter looter gameplay we are all familiar with. Because of this, it fell to the sidelines of 2019 releases. Maybe it will gain some respect when fans get to play it in 60 FPS via PlayStation 5.<\/p>\n

22 <\/span>Cyberpunk 2077<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

The most anticipated game of the year is releasing for both consoles. The beloved Witcher 3: Wild Hunt<\/em> <\/a>developers are dipping their feet in the Cyberpunk<\/a> genre.<\/p>\n

This game has been hyped beyond belief and almost every gamer can get their hands on it.<\/p>\n

21 <\/span>Dead By Daylight<\/h2>\n

Dead By Daylight<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>is a multiplayer game where one player takes the role of a deadly killer. The survivors, other players, must escape and complete objectives in order to win. The Behavior Interactive asymmetrical multiplayer can be upgraded to 4K and 60 FPS for free.<\/p>\n

20 <\/span>Destiny 2<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Bungie launched the live service genre with their first-person shooter, Destiny<\/em><\/a>. The sequel will be an ever-evolving game and we’re unlikely to see a third entry. The game will continue getting bigger with Beyond Light, The Witch Queen, and a third expansion.<\/p>\n

19 <\/span>DIRT 5<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

DIRT 5<\/a>,<\/em>\u00a0the classic off-road racing game, releases on October 16. PlayStation 4 owners can upgrade from 60 FPS to 120 FPS when they get the PS5 version for free. This entry also adds user-made levels and everyone’s favorite voice actors: Troy Baker<\/a> and Nolan North<\/a>.<\/p>\n

18 <\/span>Doom Eternal<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Doom Eternal<\/em><\/a> was one of the best games of this year when it launched alongside Animal Crossing: New Horizons<\/a>.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

It features chaotic first-person shooter gameplay on a hell infested earth. Doom’s<\/a><\/em> future is unknown, thanks to the Bethesda acquisition, but, for now, it has a free upgrade to PS5.<\/p>\n

17 <\/span>Far Cry 6<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Giancarlo Esposito is all we need to get excited about the next Far Cry<\/a><\/em>. The series is known for its villains and Esposito is famous for playing some of the best antagonists on TV. The trailer depicts a haunting scene between Anton Castillo and his son, El Diego, who is next in line for president.<\/p>\n

16 <\/span>FIFA 21 – Before FIFA 22 Releases<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

The annual FIFA<\/a> release is coming to both PS4 and PS5, just make sure to upgrade it before the inevitable FIFA 2021 comes out. FIFA 20 releases on October 9, pushed from its original release window of September.<\/p>\n

15 <\/span>Hitman 3 – Digital Only<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

The sandbox of killing returns with Hitman 3<\/em><\/a>, announced at Sony’s first games showcase. The biggest addition to the franchise is VR support, which will switch the game from a third-person perspective to a first-person perspective. Make sure to buy the digital version if you want a PS5 upgrade.<\/p>\n

14 <\/span>Horizon Forbidden West<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Most fans were confused when Horizon Forbidden West<\/em><\/a> was announced for both systems. The announcement denied Sony’s previous statement about believing in generations.<\/span><\/p>\n

Previously named Gods and Monsters, Immortals Fenyx Rising<\/em><\/a> combines Assassin’s Creed Odyssey<\/em><\/a> and Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild<\/em><\/a>. Ubisoft’s open-world game, based on Greek Myth, looks to be a promising addition to their large repertoire – even if the title isn’t the best.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

12 <\/span>Kena: Bridge Of Spirits<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Ember Lab, the team who made a Majora’s Mask<\/em> fan film called Terrible Fate<\/em>, are trying their hand at a video game. Kena Bridge of Spirits<\/em><\/a> is a third-person adventure where Kena explores an abandoned village filled with spirits.<\/p>\n

11 <\/span>Madden NFL 21 – Before Madden NFL 22 Releases<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

It’s that time again- another Madden<\/a> game. Just like FIFA<\/em>, you must buy Madden NFL 21<\/em> before the 2022 game is released to be eligible for the upgrade. The upgraded edition promises better load times and AI.<\/p>\n

10 <\/span>Marvel’s Avengers<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Marvel’s Avengers<\/em><\/a> was one of the most fascinating game launches of 2020. After a flurry of negative responses to the beta, gamers were hesitant to buy the live service game.<\/p>\n

The story turned out to be surprisingly good but it was bogged down by microtransactions and greed.<\/p>\n

9 <\/span>Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales<\/h2>\n

The sequel to the well-received Marvel’s Spider-Man<\/em><\/a> features Miles Morales<\/a> and his electricity powers. It’s not a full-fledged game but, rather, a large expansion like Uncharted: The Lost Legacy<\/a>.\u00a0<\/em>The recent gameplay demo showed Miles fighting off The Tinkerer on a collapsing bridge.<\/p>\n

8 <\/span>Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Monster Boy and The Cursed Kingdom <\/em>values the simplistic style of classic games. The player can transform into six different creatures to unlock new pathways and abilities. The game will be upgraded from 60 FPS to 120 FPS with the PlayStation 5.<\/p>\n

7 <\/span>Rider’s Republic<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Rider’s Republic<\/em> is an online open-world game featuring biking, snowboarding, skiing, and wingsuits. It includes exploration with friends, team vs. team battles, and some battle royale inspired modes. A total of 50 players can play in the open world or social hubs when it releases February 25, 2021.<\/p>\n

6 <\/span>Sackboy: A Big Adventure<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Fans were surprised to see a new Little Big Planet<\/em><\/a> game, named Sackboy A Big Adventure.\u00a0<\/em>It looks to continue the platforming and cooperative gameplay but eliminates the side-scrolling gameplay. Sackboy A Big Adventure\u00a0<\/em>releases alongside the PS5 and it will be $70.<\/p>\n

5 <\/span>Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege<\/h2>\n

This tactical shooter has a strong fanbase that can easily transfer over to the next generation. Each player chooses one of 45 operators with unique abilities.<\/p>\n

The players have to work together and use strategy to win a match. The PS5 version will be 4k, HDR supported, and 120 FPS.<\/p>\n

4 <\/span>The Elder Scrolls Online<\/h2>\n

The Elder’s Scrolls<\/a>‘<\/em> take on the MMO space has 15 million players<\/a> as of March. Elder Scrolls fans love to experience their favorite world with friends and the game won’t die down anytime soon. ZeniMax is still supporting the game with 20 different expansions over its lifetime.<\/p>\n

3 <\/span>The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt<\/h2>\n

CD Projekt Red continues to be in our good graces when they announced that The Witcher 3<\/a><\/em>, one of the best games of the last decade, has a free upgrade to next generation consoles. Story and branching quests make The Witcher 3<\/em> stand out amongst the competition.<\/p>\n

2 <\/span>Watch Dogs Legion<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

The third installment of the Watch Dog’s<\/a><\/em> franchise takes a drastic but welcome turn from the suspected gameplay. The player can recruit any NPC scrolling the street and play at them. Gamer’s can get their hands on Ubisoft’s new open world on October 29.<\/p>\n

1 <\/span>WRC 9<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

WRC is a long standing off road driving simulator. The newest installment features 35 new stages, 3 new rallies and new engine sounds. The next gen upgrade will be free but the specs are not released yet. It will likely be 120 FPS like other next gen racing games.<\/p>\n
