Hitting shelves tomorrow,\u00a0Baldur’s Gate 3\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>looks to resurrect the\u00a0Baldur’s Gate\u00a0<\/em>franchise for modern audiences over 20 years after the last mainline entry in the series. Debuting in early-access, it will allegedly offer a 25-hour campaign, with tons of strategic, turn-based combat encounters, hard-hitting, RPG choices, and heavily-immersive, Dungeons and Dragons<\/a> gameplay.<\/p>\n

For those looking to return to the\u00a0Baldur’s Gate\u00a0<\/em>universe<\/a> when it launches tomorrow, there’s one huge question surrounding\u00a0the upcoming sequel that has yet to be answered. Considering the game looks to be a comprehensive RPG experience with a lot of depth, how much hard drive space will this huge experience take up?<\/p>\n

As it turns out, fans have finally got the answer to this question, and sadly,\u00a0they might have to start shuffling some games around to fit the long-awaited sequel onto their hard drive. According to the Steam page for\u00a0Baldur’s Gate 3<\/a>,\u00a0<\/em>the game’s size will clock in it at a\u00a0whopping 150 GB, easily taking up a\u00a0significant\u00a0amount of space on any player’s PC. To put that into perspective, the remasters of\u00a0Baldur’s Gate <\/em>and\u00a0Baldur’s Gate 2<\/em>\u00a0<\/i>that released on Steam\u00a0only took up 3 GB, showing just how much bigger this new release will be in comparison to\u00a0its much older predecessors. It’ll be interesting to see if the hefty size of the file signifies that the threequel will be a densely packed\u00a0RPG experience, with fans certainly hoping that it’ll bring the series back with the depth associated with previous mainline entries.<\/p>\n

As games get bigger, file sizes are certainly beginning to veer more\u00a0towards the extreme, with\u00a0titles such as\u00a0Call of Duty: Modern Warfare\u00a0<\/em>no longer fitting on a 250 GB hard drive<\/a>. It seems likely that it’ll be a bigger problem in the years to come, especially with new reports claiming that PlayStation 5 games will clock in at similarly hefty sizes.\u00a0Spider-Man: Miles Morales Ultimate Edition,\u00a0<\/em>which comes loaded with a remaster of\u00a0Marvel’s Spider-Man,\u00a0<\/em>is said to take up 105 GB, while\u00a0Demon Souls\u00a0<\/em>clocks in at the much smaller size of 66 GB.<\/p>\n

For\u00a0Baldur’s Gate 3,\u00a0<\/em>however, it’s likely a good sign that the devs have loaded enough content into the game to warrant such a large install size.\u00a0After all, in the eyes of fans, Larian Studios’ resurrection of the franchise is\u00a0one of 2020’s most anticipated releases<\/a> thus far, with thousands waiting with bated breath to see how it turns out. With such a dedicated dev team behind it, however, it seems primed to be worth the wait.<\/p>\n

Baldur’s Gate 3\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>will be available on October 6 for PC and Google Stadia.<\/p>\n
