The Last of Us 2<\/em><\/strong> was released earlier this year and made waves in the gaming community. The sequel to The Last of Us<\/em> managed to smash sales records<\/a> and create a new benchmark for attention to detail in gaming. But The Last of Us<\/em>\u00a0is also known for its well-drawn characters and post-apocalyptic world, which has inspired plenty of fans to pay tribute to the game in their own way.<\/p>\n

The Last of Us<\/em><\/a> games are set in a world ravaged by a pandemic known as the Cordyceps Brain Infection, which\u00a0infects people in a number of stages. There are six known infected types in The Last of Us 2<\/em>, ranging from the first stage, Runners, to the boss-type\u00a0known as the Rat King, the most horrific stage. The cordyceps infected in The Last of Us<\/em>\u00a0are\u00a0quite different from many of the traditional zombie types seen in other horror games, which has inspired a number of terrifying cosplays by fans over the years.<\/p>\n

A fan has shared their impressive The Last of Us 2<\/em> cosplay<\/a>, showing a very realistic Clicker costume.\u00a0Linagabrielle on Reddit dressed up as some of the infected from The Last of Us 2<\/em> for Comic-Con in 2017 and the Clicker outfit is particularly impressive. Clickers are blind thanks to the fungus growing on their heads, and this cosplay has definitely nailed the mushroom growth look that The Last of Us<\/em> uses, as well as the stages of transition between Runner and Clicker.<\/p>\n

Clickers are one of the more common infected types that players encounter in The Last of Us<\/em> games, but they are also one of the most deadly. Clickers use sound to locate the player and are much harder to kill than the average runner. Failing to take one down in time can lead to some brutal cut-scenes for the player. The devs at Naughty Dog have\u00a0been open about the particular care that went\u00a0into crafting the Clicker<\/a>, in particular the sound design that is required to make\u00a0the iconic clicking noise.<\/p>\n

This isn’t the first instance of impressive cosplay inspired by The Last of Us<\/em><\/a>, but without any conventions or events to\u00a0show off their work this year, many\u00a0fans have taken to social media to share their efforts.\u00a0Naughty Dog also recently celebrated The Last of Us<\/em> Day by releasing a bunch\u00a0of free themes and new merchandise, which will definitely help fans with their future cosplay endeavors.<\/p>\n
