With a past full of special events to celebrate certain occasions, fans were both surprised and disappointed to discover that Rockstar had forgotten the seven-year anniversary of <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/grand-theft-auto-online\/\"><em>GTA Online<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>With <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/gta-online-hidden-summer-updates-no-one-noticed\/\"><em>GTA Online<\/em> updates for the Summer months<\/a> full of small details and little things for players to strive for, it seems odd that Rockstar would do absolutely nothing for the anniversary of the game. Players likely expected some new cars or weapons, or at the very least a decent bit of free money to use within the game however they wish. Instead, <em>Grand Theft Auto Online<\/em> players were met with a day like any other for the seventh anniversary.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/gta-v-rumors-turned-out-true\/\">GTA V: Crazy Rumors That Actually Turned Out To Be True<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Considering that not even a double XP weekend or a fix for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegamer.com\/gta-online-hoverbike-glitch\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>GTA Online<\/em>\u2019s invisible hoverbikes<\/a> has released, fans of <em>GTA Online<\/em> were quick to take to the game\u2019s subreddit and voice their confusion. One such reddit user, named captainvideoblaster, posted a meme from the show <em>Two and a Half Men<\/em>. Essentially just poking fun at the way Rockstar forgot about the special day, the post\u2019s top comment from Peak_Idiocy highlights a great touch by the meme maker, as its creator made sure to not make Rockstar talk.<\/p>\n<p>A silent Rockstar is likely a reference to how little the developer has said about both <em>GTA Online<\/em>\u2019s anniversary and <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/grand-theft-auto-6-years-away\/\">the far-off sequel <em>GTA 6<\/em><\/a>. The notoriously tight-lipped studio has kept fans in the dark for some time now, and they are showing no plans to change up their approach anytime soon. Still, completely forgetting an impressive and important milestone like a mode\u2019s seventh anniversary is undeniably weird. Perhaps <em>GTA Online<\/em>\u2019s delayed release back when <em>GTA 5<\/em> first dropped even threw off Rockstar and made them forget.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/gtaonline\/comments\/j3dui2\/r_today\/\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>While players getting nothing for sticking with the game for seven years is disappointing, Rockstar does seem to be somewhat busy. Likely deep into development of the much-awaited <em>Grand Theft Auto 6<\/em>, it makes sense for the studio to be less focused on updating a far older game. Beyond that, Rockstar has been updating its more recent title as of late, <em>Red Dead Redemption 2<\/em>. With <em>Red Dead Online<\/em> seeing new content like animal transformations and <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/red-dead-online-september-2020-legendary-moose\/\">legendary moose hunts added<\/a>, at least <em>Red Dead<\/em> fans are getting rewarded for their time.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/red-dead-redemption-2-undead-nightmare-rdo-zombies\/\"><em>Red Dead Online<\/em>\u00a0could be getting Undead Nightmare<\/a> content soon as well, likely for Halloween.
