The movie\u2019s English adaptation will be produced by STX Entertainment with original French director Christian Carion reprising his duties.<\/p>\n<p><em>My Son<\/em> is a <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/best-ps4-xbox-one-horror-games-layers-of-fear\/\">psychological thriller<\/a> centered around a semi-absent divorced father (McAvoy), who one day receives a call from his ex-wife (Claire Foy) telling him that his son has gone missing during a camping trip. Fearing for his son\u2019s life after the potential kidnapping, the father goes on an all-out hunt to find him before it\u2019s too late.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/the-batman-delayed-2022-but-matrix-4-is-coming-sooner\/\">The Batman Gets Delayed, but Matrix 4 is Coming Sooner<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>However, the\u00a0unique aspect of\u00a0\u00a0<em>Mon Gar\u00e7on<\/em> lies in director Christian Carion\u2019s artistic choices, who originally kept his lead protagonist, French actor Guillaume Canet (<em>Love Me If You Dare<\/em>), completely in the dark about the story\u2019s plot, providing no script and keeping him limited to only a brief character description and free pass for improvisation. If that all sounds a little crazy, then also be warned that the French version of <em>My Son<\/em> was shot in only six days.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"480\" height=\"270\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/tI4JfGet1bI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s still not clear if Carion will aim to or even be allowed to fully replicate his methods, but Adam Fogelson, chairman of STX, made clear that \u201cJames will be doing the detective work of the film in real time, on camera, to create real tension for this thriller\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>McAvoy is of course no stranger to unconventional roles, as aside from his Professor X in the <em>X-Men<\/em> movies, he is\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/screenrant.com\/split-clip-video-james-mcavoy-acting\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">known for his portrayal of all 24 personalities<\/a> living inside Kevin Wendell Crumb\u2019s head in M. Night Shyamalan\u2019s\u00a0\u00a0<em>Split<\/em> and <em>Glass<\/em>. Suffice to say, the well renowned McAvoy is not only up to the task of improvising an entire lead character facing a thriller plot, but will perhaps relish the opportunity to do so.<\/p>\n<p>While <em>My Son\u2019s<\/em> original French release was not a commercial or critical hit by any means, Christian Carion will be eager to seize his shot at nailing such a particular vision just right this time around.
