But Ghost Town Games and Team17 proved such a style is not only still fun, but can be a uniquely exciting\u00a0endeavor. They’ve done this in the form of their\u00a0surprise hit<\/a>\u00a0Overcooked<\/em>, and its even more beefed-up sequel. The series brings a charming arcade sensibility with its simple mechanics and frantic gameplay.<\/p>\n

At the same time, these games very much do their own thing, with the emphasis on multitasking and collaborating with other players. This has spawned a number of similar efforts \u2013 though there are also titles predating it, which\u00a0ring similar in some way. Let’s get cooking and take a look at titles\u00a0Overcooked\u00a0<\/em>fans should love. Some of these will stress cooperative gameplay, but all will hinge on multitasking when it comes to mechanics or objectives.<\/p>\n

Thus, it seemed appropriate to add even more flavor to this list with some delectable\u00a0Overcooked<\/em>-esque titles.<\/p>\n

12 <\/span>Among Us<\/h2>\n

This creative indie from Innersloth simultaneously provides whimsical party game charm while injecting gamers with grim, ongoing doubts as to who they can trust.\u00a0Among Us\u00a0<\/em>blends a slew of unique minigames with detective work and social gameplay. Despite being a 2018 release, the game’s popularity took off thanks to the attention brought by various YouTubers and Twitch Streamers<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Players will be forced to tackling various bite-sized games throughout their spaceship – with minigames ranging from attaching colored wires to gingerly swiping cards. At the same time, the crew must deal with the looming danger of murderous Impostors and sniff them out.<\/p>\n

On the other side – the Impostors must craftily blend in and deflect any attention while taking out enough of the ship’s crew so that they either outnumber them or sabotage the ship.<\/p>\n

11 <\/span>Snipperclips: Cut It Out Together!<\/h2>\n

This uniquely charming game has the vibe of a cooperative puzzler cobbled together with a virtual elementary school art project. This delightful romp by SFB Games will have players working together to solve a number of puzzles and complete tasks – often\u00a0through goofy, yuk-invoking ways.<\/p>\n

The game inspires communication, creativity, and improvisation – as players will be given little information with which to work through their tasks through physics-based moves and ample snipping, triggered by overlapping shapes.<\/p>\n

10 <\/span>Joggernauts<\/h2>\n

On the surface, a sidescrolling platformer<\/a> might seem like a far cry from a cooking-based party romp. Yet, at its core, this colorful game from Space Mace and Graffiti Games is\u00a0Overcooked<\/em>-esque in\u00a0its co-op leanings, rapid pacing, and juggling of multiple tasks.<\/p>\n

The name of the game is to sort out the color-coded avatars while chugging along, which corresponds to platforms and other elements. These high stakes, coupled with some precise controls and tricky surgical procedures, makes for a uniquely tense experience.<\/p>\n

This sequel to the 2013 sleeper hit ups the ante in terms of depth and difficulty, injecting cooperative gameplay and a story mode that further immerses players. Like\u00a0Overcooked<\/em>, the cartoony\u00a0visuals and animation provide some yuks.<\/p>\n

Just a brief look at the stumbling, doughy avatars is enough to sense that we’re\u00a0in for a unique and wild ride here.<\/p>\n

Players will team up in groups of stretchy, staggering figures who struggle to even run or jump. Fumbling with the drunken physics proves both challenging and hilarious \u2013 as players drag, hop, and fall around while messing with platforms and contraptions that trigger the next part of the stage.<\/p>\n

7 <\/span>39 Days To Mars<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

This hand-drawn puzzler is a huge departure from the colorful\u00a0Overcooked\u00a0<\/em>\u2013\u00a0and most\u00a0other\u00a0<\/em>games for that matter. Still,\u00a0the emphasis of multiplayer communication and multitasking here certainly has some overlap.\u00a039 Days to Mars<\/em>\u00a0has players tinkering with a number of weird, inventive puzzles in order to progress and repair their steampunk ship<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The campaign is slim, but the “outside the box” thinking and juggling of several tasks ensure there will be\u00a0much\u00a0<\/em>time spent experimenting. Objectives span from controlling a space bicycle to fixing some tea. Like Team17’s game,\u00a039 Days to Mars\u00a0<\/em>truly thrives when collaborating \u2013 even if it can\u00a0technically\u00a0<\/em>be played alone.<\/p>\n

6 <\/span>Tools Up!<\/h2>\n

The Knights of Unity’s\u00a0Tools Up!\u00a0<\/em>is to home renovation what\u00a0Overcooked\u00a0<\/em>is to cooking and baking. Outside the vastly-different\u00a0motifs, the core gameplay rings quite similar to Team17’s party game.<\/p>\n

Though the experience is a bit rough around the edges, scrambling with a friend to move furniture and tear down wallpaper proves surprisingly fun. It’s an amusing alternative for\u00a0Overcooked\u00a0<\/em>fans looking to knockout different types of tasks with a friend.<\/p>\n

5 <\/span>Death Squared<\/h2>\n

Put the collaborative, multitasking gameplay of\u00a0Overcooked\u00a0&<\/em>\u00a0rework it into a block-centric puzzler<\/a>, and\u00a0the result is\u00a0Death Squared<\/em>. Just as that game has chefs fumbling with various ingredients, this puzzle game forces players to deal with a number of contraptions, electric currents, and deadly robot explosions.<\/p>\n

It’s much the same with this even\u00a0more\u00a0<\/em>intense title, which is described as a “party railroad game.” That certainly sums it up \u2013 as Conduct Together!\u00a0<\/em>takes the job of navigating trains and adds a chaotically fun twist with its fast-paced arcade gameplay.<\/p>\n

Players will be forced to shift from multiple points of interest, as various trains will be chugging along different paths. The goal is to guide each train to their station and pick up commuters, all while evading each other and avoiding crashes.<\/p>\n

3 <\/span>Cake Mania<\/h2>\n

It wouldn’t make sense to have a list discussing\u00a0Overcooked<\/em>-esque games and not<\/em> include a cooking romp, especially one that similarly has players scrambling to complete food orders. Of course, this time cakes alone<\/em> are the focus, but that doesn’t mean\u00a0Cake Mania\u00a0<\/em>is any less thrilling or tough \u2013 far from it!<\/p>\n

Holding parallels to the similar\u00a0Tools Up!<\/em>, this Team17-published game also takes a typically laborious job and turns it into a fun, thrilling endeavor. Described as a “moving simulator,” Moving Out<\/em>\u00a0puts an arcade-style spin on the task of hauling furniture with its cartoony visuals and fast-paced gameplay.<\/p>\n

Players will work together on a single isometric screen to drag various items and furniture around, compiling them into a moving truck. Speed and maneuverability are stressed over strategy \u2013 though the mechanics, style, and thrilling co-op gameplay definitely invoke\u00a0Overcooked\u00a0<\/em>vibes.<\/p>\n

1 <\/span>Catastronauts<\/h2>\n

Those few who have discovered this hidden gem have often called it “Overcooked\u00a0<\/em>in space,” and to a degree, this is true. Though this 2018 romp from Inertia Game Studios\u00a0shines like a star with its own unique charm. Rather than whipping up meals, up to 4 players will man a spaceship, working to keep it running smoothly and ward off attacks.<\/p>\n

This means arming torpedoes, evading solar flairs, and extinguish fires in a manner very much like Team17’s game.\u00a0Catastronauts\u00a0<\/em>especially feels like the more chaotic\u00a0Overcooked 2<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>with its dynamic settings and thrilling action happening around the players.<\/p>\n
