Star Citizen<\/em><\/strong> has become famous for the sheer scale of developer Cloud Imperium Games\u2019 ambitions (plus the hundreds of millions it\u2019s made in crowdfunding), and infamous for the years of feature creep and inconsistent dev communication that have left many players wondering if the space sim MMO will ever be fully released. It remains to be seen if Star Citizen<\/em> is more than a pipe dream<\/a>, but players have plenty of new content to dive into while they wait.<\/p>\n

This week marks the eight anniversary of Star Citizen<\/em>\u2019s unveiling<\/a>, and to celebrate, CIG has launched a new alpha build, known as Alpha 3.11: High Impact. This new update adds three new starter ships, the Origin 100 series. CIG says these new ships will be the first to feature more physicalized dashboards, meaning players will be able to interact with every button and switch in the cockpit.<\/p>\n

The High Impact update also removes Armistice Zones from a selection of the game\u2019s space stations, which increases the number of areas in Star Citizen<\/em><\/a> where players can engage in space combat with one another. This change is accompanied by others like new force reactions and weapons, expanded prison gameplay, improved planetary art, and an updated inventory UI.<\/p>\n
