Star Wars: Squadrons has been met with overall positive feedback since launch, as noted in our full review <\/a>earlier this month. The multiplayer and single-play components alike both offer fertile ground for new DLC, but it looks like the team at EA Motive doesn’t have any post-launch content in the works.\u00a0<\/p>\n

When speaking with UploadVR, creative director Ian Frazier mentioned specifically that they didn’t approach Squadrons as a live-service game. “Never say never, so to speak, but as far as our philosophy goes, we’re not trying to treat the game as a live service [title].”\u00a0<\/p>\n

Frazier added, “We don’t want to say ‘it’s almost done’ and then dribble out more of it over time, which to be honest is how most games work these days. So we’ve tried to treat it in kind of an old-school approach saying ‘You’ve paid the $40, this is the game and it’s entirely self-contained. We’re not planning to add more content, this is the game, as we hope you understand the value proposition.”<\/p>\n

Star Wars: Squadrons is set after the events in\u00a0Return of the Jedi\u00a0<\/em>and the second iteration of the Death Star has gone kaput. With the Empire and Rebel forces once more at each other’s throats, Squadrons gives players a chance to feel like a real pilot in a galaxy far, far away.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Our Editor in Chief, Andrew Reiner, recently reviewed the game, saying: “Squadrons\u2019 single-player may fizzle out frequently like a malfunctioning hyperdrive motivator, but the multiplayer continually impresses and is worth the price of entry alone. Flying in formation with a group of friends put a smile on my face, and that was just the calm before the storm. When the lasers start flying, Squadrons\u2019 multiplayer can be nothing short of exhilarating and a great test of skill, pushing players to be clever in the cockpit to outthink and outmaneuver opponents. Given just how enjoyable it is to pilot an X-Wing or TIE Fighter, this is a multiplayer experience I will continually go back to, even if EA doesn\u2019t support it with new content. It\u2019s just fun to play, providing something different compared to most of today\u2019s competitive games.”<\/p>\n
