Now that audiences have had a good long while with unironic classic heroes, however, shows have begun to drift into darker territory. While\u00a0<em>The Boys<\/em> has easily claimed the spot of being the definitive dark and edgy live action hero show, Amazon seems to be tapping into that market again with animated show\u00a0<em>Invincible<\/em>, which just released an early teaser trailer.<\/p>\n<p>The first season of\u00a0<em>Invincible\u00a0<\/em>is set to take place over eight, hour-long episodes and is written by Robert Kirkman of\u00a0<em>The Walking Dead<\/em>. Kirkman is <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/thor-love-and-thunder-jane-foster-backstory-cancer\/\">adapting his own original comic<\/a> for the show, which features Mark Grayson as the 17 year old son of Earth&#8217;s most powerful superhero. Overall the show will be about Grayson balancing both the pressures of normal teenage life with finding his purpose and identity as a superpowered being, but will also be more violent than your typical coming of age story.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span class=\"related-single\">RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/leaked-toy-reveals-eternals-marvel-kro\/\">Leaked Toy Packaging Reveals Eternals Villain<\/a><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Invincible\u00a0<\/em>also has an <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/mcu-news-doctor-strange-spider-man-3\/\">impressive voice cast under its belt<\/a>, starring everyone from J.K. Simmons as Mark&#8217;s father, to appearances by Seth Rogen, Gillian Jacobs, and even Mark Hamill. The show had a panel at this year&#8217;s New York Comic Con where the trailer was revealed, but the release date is still a vague 2021 for the time being.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"480\" height=\"270\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/JuMiq7eg91M?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>A synopsis has also been released for a little more detail, which goes as follows: &#8220;<i>Invincible<\/i>\u00a0is an adult animated superhero show that revolves around seventeen-year-old Mark Grayson (Steven Yeun), who\u2019s just like every other guy his age \u2014 except that his father is the most powerful superhero on the planet, Omni-Man (J.K. Simmons).
