While much remains unknown about Diablo 4<\/em><\/strong>, there is a constant conversation over one of the biggest aspects of the game: its launch classes. Many fans are hoping to see something new in Diablo 4<\/em><\/a>,<\/em> while others are demanding some of the most classic classes.<\/p>\n

A recent aggregate combined several Diablo 4<\/em> class polls from across the internet to reveal the most popular. There’s some interesting insights here, like a solid demand for something brand new. There’s a solid demand for the return of some Diablo 1<\/em> classes<\/a>, but ultimately, the most popular class is the most unlikely.<\/p>\n

The top three most requested classes are the Necromancer, Paladin, and Amazon. In fact, many predict Diablo 4<\/em>‘s launch classes<\/a> to include the Paladin and Amazon as they fill certain niches, and many hope that the Necromancer can fit in too. After all, there’s always room to blow up skeletons and chain together summons, and there’s nothing revealed so far about Diablo 4<\/em> that makes the Necromancer highly unlikely. However, looking at the context around it does make the Necromancer seem unlikely compared to other classes.<\/p>\n

Thus far, there has been three classes confirmed: the Barbarian, the Druid<\/a>, and the Sorcerer. This means that a melee-focused class, as well as two caster classes have been revealed. The Amazon seems like a shoe-in for Diablo 4<\/em> to give players a dex-based class, while another melee class\u2014whether Paladin or not\u2014seems likely to round it out. In other words, the Necromancer is cut out by the process of elimination, but that’s not all.<\/p>\n

The Necromancer appeared in both Diablo 2<\/em> and Diablo 3<\/em>, and while that itself doesn’t eliminate the potential of the Necromancer, it is worth considering. The Barbarian is basically a staple, but the D2<\/em> necromancer was classified as a type of Sorcerer. It’s different from the Diablo 3<\/em> version, and “Melee-Mancers” are possible. However, because all of this stumbles over other toes, it’s not likely for launch. Adding to this is the fact that it was a DLC class in D3<\/em>, and if it were to ever be included in Diablo 4<\/em>, its popularity likely means it would be reserved for DLC again.<\/p>\n

Perhaps more DLC classes will come to Diablo 4<\/a><\/em>\u00a0than past games and include this class, especially given the sheer demand of the Necromancer. But while it’d be a clearly welcomed addition, fans should temper expectations. Blizzard has a lot of roads it can go, whether that’s surprising fans with something brand new or bringing back another old class, but with other 5 classes available at launch, something has to be left behind. Unfortunately, while there’s no one big thing that pinpoints one of those as the Necromancer, there’s a lot of little things that even it can’t necessarily resurrect.<\/p>\n
