Some of the more notable builds are immense in scale, such as one team of players attempting to <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/minecraft-recreating-bungie-destiny-september-2020\/\">recreate the original <em>Destiny<\/em>\u00a0in <em>Minecraft<\/em><\/a> down to its mechanics and modes, but one community server called Minecraft Middle-Earth has been attempting\u00a0to recreate the fantasy world of J.R.R. Tolkien for 10 years.<\/p>\n<p>The project was founded on October 10, 2010 when <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/minecraft\/\"><em>Minecraft<\/em><\/a> was in Alpha version 1.1, according to a post from head moderator Smaug_Niphredil about different events being held over the next two weeks to celebrate its anniversary. A special video has also been released on the project&#8217;s official YouTube channel that shows off different locales from Middle-Earth on a timeline of when they were built.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/minecraft-avatar-the-last-airbender-intro-stop-motion\/\">Minecraft Players Recreate Avatar: The Last Airbender Intro Using Stop Motion<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The community building project is advertised in the video as &#8220;based on the best-selling books of all time, made in the <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/minecraft-200-million-sold\/\">best-selling game of all time<\/a>,&#8221; and invites everyone to participate in organized events &#8220;to create major landmarks, terrain, caves, castles, towns, farms, and more,&#8221; according to its\u00a0forums. Today&#8217;s festivities included an award ceremony and anniversary item hunt, and tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. UTC there will be a reenactment of the Helm&#8217;s Deep Battle \u2014 said to be the first of many in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"480\" height=\"270\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/_VKLCwzfKKc?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>More events will be hosted on the server through October 23, including a 24-hour Hide and Seek game on October 15, a collective build project for the Osgiliath Wall on October 17, and an Octoberfest after party\u00a0following the closing ceremony. Some events still have times to be determined, such as a <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/minecraft-flying-cape\/\">race using <em>Minecraft<\/em>&#8216;s flying Elytra<\/a> that will let players &#8220;fly with the eagles&#8221; and see the landscapes built out across the server from a different\u00a0perspective.<\/p>\n<p>This anniversary falls out around a great time for fans of <em>Minecraft<\/em> as a whole. <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/mineraft-live-2020-caves-and-cliffs-summer-2021\/\"><em>Minecraft<\/em> announced its next big Caves &amp; Cliffs update<\/a> during Minecraft Live 2020 last week, and on October 13 Steve and\u00a0various alternate characters\u00a0will become the newest guest fighter in Nintendo&#8217;s <em>Super Smash Bros.
