Pikmin<\/em> fans awaiting the arrival of Pikmin 3 Deluxe<\/em><\/strong> were recently treated to a demo for the Switch re-release<\/a>, and while most players have been content with simply playing Pikmin 3<\/em> on the Switch, others have used the demo to figure out how the new version holds up to the Wii U original performance-wise.<\/p>\n

With so many re-released games from previous generations running better on newer hardware, it\u2019s understandable that fans are wondering if Pikmin 3<\/em> will be getting a similar upgrade on the Switch (especially in light of its full $60 price tag). Unfortunately, on a purely technical level, Pikmin 3 Deluxe<\/em> performs nearly identically to the 2013 Wii U version of the game<\/a>.<\/p>\n

According to YouTube channel VG Tech, which did some tests, the demo has the same performance as the Wii U version when docked, running at a 720p resolution and 30fps. Handheld mode, meanwhile, does see some mild improvement, as the demo runs at 576p, compared to the 480p the game runs at when played on the Wii U GamePad. Of course, the demo for Pikmin 3 Deluxe<\/em><\/a> might not be entirely representative of how the full game will perform, though it seems safe to assume that that is probably the case.<\/p>\n
