\tEpic Games faced a second setback in a lawsuit challenging Apple\u2019s App Store rules, failing to obtain the right to reinstate its popular game Fortnite for iOS devices.<\/p>\n

A US district court judge ruled against Epic Games\u2019 request for a preliminary injunction [1] against Apple\u2019s block on Fortnite.<\/p>\n

Despite having \u201cstrong arguments regarding Apple\u2019s exclusive distribution through the iOS App Store, and the in-app purchase (IAP) system through which Apple takes 30 per cent of certain IAP payments\u201d, the game developer had not “sufficiently addressed Apple\u2019s counter arguments\u201d, the judge said.<\/p>\n

The court also repeated an earlier decision to ban Apple\u2019s attempt [2] to block access to Epic Games\u2019s Unreal Engine developer toolkit for iOS and Mac.<\/p>\n

Epic Games previously attempted to bring Fortnite back to the App Store, but the court dismissed the plea, saying the developer could make changes to comply with Apple\u2019s policies.<\/p>\n

The row started in August, when Apple removed Fortnite from the App Store after Epic Games introduced a direct payment option [3] for its titles on the iOS and Android platforms.<\/p>\n
