Known for its work on 2010’s\u00a0Crackdown 2\u00a0<\/em>among numerous other projects,\u00a0<\/em>Ruffian Games has slowly but surely become a big name in the games industry. The team received a lot of acclaim for helping turn\u00a0Halo: The<\/em>\u00a0Master Chief\u00a0<\/em><\/a>Collection<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>into a substantial celebration of\u00a0the\u00a0Halo\u00a0<\/em>franchise, helping port\u00a0Halo 3\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a04\u00a0<\/em>to the collection as well as\u00a0recently bringing\u00a0Halo: Reach<\/em>\u00a0<\/em>to the remastered experience as DLC.<\/p>\n

It seems the studio’s library of\u00a0work has impressed at least one industry giant, with Rockstar Games<\/strong> recently acquiring the developer. Ruffian Games<\/a> will now go by Rockstar Dundee,\u00a0joining the\u00a0likes of Rockstar London, Rockstar San Diego, and Rockstar North underneath the publisher’s banner.<\/p>\n

Rockstar Games<\/a>\u00a0and Ruffian Games have been\u00a0collaborating\u00a0since last year, with several developers who worked on Manhunt\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0Grand Theft Auto\u00a0<\/em>currently residing\u00a0at the studio. What they will work on together going forward is currently\u00a0unknown, although it seems likely that Rockstar Dundee will act as more man-power for whatever Rockstar focuses on during the emergence of next-generation consoles like the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. Ruffian Games has shown it has a knack for\u00a0chipping in on longstanding projects, with\u00a0Halo: The Master Chief Collection\u00a0<\/em>evolving drastically since its debut back in 2014, so it will likely be an invaluable\u00a0extra pair of hands for Rockstar to work with.<\/p>\n

Grand Theft Auto 5\u00a0<\/em>will officially be returning\u00a0to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X<\/a>, with a standalone release set\u00a0for\u00a0Grand Theft Auto\u00a0<\/em>Online.\u00a0<\/em>The latter will be PlayStation-exclusive for the first three months of its launch, with PS Plus subscribers able to play for free in that time period.<\/p>\n

Other than that, Rockstar has been silent on what its\u00a0follow-up to\u00a0Red Dead Redemption 2\u00a0<\/em>will be, though many\u00a0fans assume the publisher will eventually return with\u00a0Grand Theft Auto 6<\/a>.\u00a0<\/em>Whatever its next project turns out to be, it will be interesting to see whether the newly-branded\u00a0Rockstar Dundee plays a big part in its development.<\/p>\n

The talented team is sure to be a\u00a0huge\u00a0asset to Rockstar going forward, so chances are they could be a\u00a0significant\u00a0part of the publisher’s foray into the next-generation. In the meantime,\u00a0players are still enjoying\u00a0Red Dead Redemption 2 Online<\/a>,\u00a0<\/em>with the game recently adding a legendary moose among a number of other crucial additions and much-needed game fixes.<\/p>\n

Rockstar Games\u00a0<\/strong>is currently\u00a0working on a\u00a0Grand Theft Auto<\/em> 5<\/em> port for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.<\/p>\n
