While some in-game issues are minor, with many fans expecting changes before a full release, one\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/call-of-duty-black-ops-cold-war\/\"><em>Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War<\/em><\/a> complaint keeps resurfacing as the Beta continues.<\/p>\n<p>Although it was not seen in the Alpha, the developers made a slight change to the in-game lobbies. This change is thought to complement <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/call-duty-black-ops-cold-war-beta-skill-based-matchmaking-sbmm\/\"><em>Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War&#8217;s\u00a0<\/em>skill-based matchmaking<\/a>, or SBMM for short. As more players discover the effect that the change has on the overall game experience, many players are worried that it may be here to stay.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/call-of-duty-black-ops-cold-war-duster-stock-nerf-beta-update\/\">Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Update Nerfs Duster Stock and More<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>So far, the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegamer.com\/call-of-duty-black-ops-cold-war-beta-impressions-best-cod-disband-lobbies-slide-speed\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> <em>Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War <\/em>Beta multiplayer has been widely well-received<\/a>. Still, one feature that\u00a0has\u00a0not gone unnoticed is the matchmaking lobby system. After each game <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/call-of-duty-black-ops-cold-war-beta-progress\/\">ends in the <em>Black Ops Cold War <\/em>Beta<\/a>, the lobby dispands, and players must begin their search individually into the next round.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TheXclusiveAce\/status\/1314932920549691392\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Streamer and competitive <em>Call of Duty <\/em>playe<em>r<\/em> Xclusive Ace echoed many community opinions, pointing out the importance of a persistent lobby. He tweeted that &#8220;persistent lobbies are a big part of the heart and soul of the online experience.&#8221; Part of what allows players to become friends, learn teamwork, and even trash talk is the consistent lobby experience. By cycling lobbies, players are being paired with random online opponents, which removes the social building aspect of the game.<\/p>\n<p>Some members of the <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/call-duty-black-ops-cold-war-sbmm-matchmaking\/\"><em>Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War <\/em>community have speculated that SBMM<\/a> and the temporary lobbies are connected. As the lobby cycles, players find themselves queued into higher tier environments. Considering that SBMM is placing players together based on skill, and that skill variable changes every match, the cycling lobbies may be a key point in dividing the community.<\/p>\n<p>In past <em>Call of Duty <\/em>titles, many players tend to stay together in a lobby they find enjoyable. This continued for years until <em>Call of Duty: Modern Warfare <\/em>broke tradition and placed players in disbanding lobbies. The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/call-duty-black-ops-cold-war-multiplayer-alpha-ps4\/\"><em>Black Ops Cold War <\/em>Alpha<\/a>\u00a0had persistent lobbies, showing players how different the two systems can be.
