Pokemon GO<\/strong><\/em> players have been battling Team GO Rocket Grunts for months now, but Shadow Legendary Pokemon remain scarce nonetheless.\u00a0That said, players\u00a0can now look forward to rescuing the powerful Psychic-type, Mewtwo, from Team GO Rocket’s clutches, thanks to Niantic’s latest update.<\/p>\n

Players who log on to\u00a0Pokemon GO<\/em><\/a>\u00a0will now be able to find “An Inter-egg-sting Development”\u00a0on the\u00a0Special tab of their Field Research menu. What’s more, an entirely new set of event bonuses (The Seasons Change: Part 2) has taken effect as well, allowing players to easily complete the Special Research by taking advantage of\u00a0perks\u00a0like increased Team GO Rocket balloon spawns.<\/p>\n

The newest Special Research, “An Inter-egg-sting Development,” is broken up into six stages<\/a>. Players are tasked with completing a series of\u00a0challenges related to Team GO Rocket and hatching shadow eggs,\u00a0with the rewards ultimately leading to a\u00a0valuable Shadow Mewtwo.<\/p>\n

As per Niantic, this is not only the first new Team GO Rocket Special Research available since March of this year,\u00a0but also the\u00a0last Team GO Rocket Special Research of 2020. Players\u00a0should be sure to complete “A Shadowy Threat Grows” <\/a>if they haven’t already, as this new Special Research\u00a0won’t appear until “A Shadow Threat Grows” is complete.<\/p>\n

The special event accompanying “An Inter-egg-sting Development” takes place from October 12 at 1 PM to October 19 at 10 PM (PDT), and places a dual focus on Team GO Rocket, and the recently teased strange red\u00a0Pokemon GO\u00a0<\/em>eggs<\/a>. Players will benefit from 1\/4 hatch distance, and Dark and Poison-type Pokemon, like Houndour, Poochyena, and perhaps even Pawniard, will be making more appearances in the wild. Team GO Rocket Grunts will be appearing more frequently, and will be using new Shadow Pokemon, like Shellder, Aerodactyl, and Skarmory. Leaders Cliff, Arlo, and Sierra, on the other hand, will\u00a0now be employing Shadow Growlithe, Drowzee, and Omanyte.<\/p>\n

Shadow Growlithe, Shadow Drowzee, and Shadow Omanyte have all been available before, but the fact that Team GO Rocket Leaders\u00a0are now using them means they can be\u00a0encountered\u00a0as Shiny. Team GO Rocket Leaders will also now be dropping “Strange Eggs.”\u00a0Strange\u00a0Eggs hatch after 12 km of walking,\u00a0making them the\u00a0most currently difficult eggs to hatch in\u00a0Pokemon GO<\/em>.<\/p>\n

These new red eggs feature Dark\/Poison-type Pokemon and Pokemon that\u00a0acquire one of those\u00a0types upon evolution (Pokemon like Vullaby, Scraggy, Larvitar, etc.) Although these Pokemon aren’t Shadow Pokemon, and only Larvitar can be hatched as Shiny, this is noteworthy because Pokemon like Scraggy and Vullaby are difficult to come across outside of the GO Battle League. Between the recent arrival of new Pokemon like Deerling<\/a>, a new set of Special Research, and the\u00a0introduction\u00a0of Shadow Mewtwo, Pokemon Trainers should be\u00a0more than set until the winter\u00a0slate of events.<\/p>\n
