It can be hard to stand out in a saturated market, such as\u00a0the current market for battle royale video games. Yet, with some good reviews in its corner<\/a>, that’s what\u00a0Spellbreak<\/em><\/strong> is trying to do.<\/p>\n

What sets\u00a0Spellbreak<\/em> apart is its unique take on combat. The game trades\u00a0firearms and armor for spells and runes. While most battle royales focus on safety, ambush, and caution,\u00a0Spellbreak<\/em><\/a> embraces fast-paced spellslinging. So far this focus\u00a0seems to have worked in the game’s favor, but it will need more to stay relevant in an otherwise flooded market. That’s why\u00a0Spellbreak<\/em> is\u00a0adding new elements, one of which has the potential to make it truly shine.<\/p>\n

In a recent Twitter post,\u00a0Spellbreak<\/em>\u00a0developers announced they are rolling out some new additions on October 22. A few of these stand out from the pack, but they’ve all been teased by the game’s roadmap before<\/a>. One is a 9v9 clash mode, in which two teams of nine players will battle head-to-head. This is far smaller than typical games, but potentially more ferocious than the traditional, drawn-out battle royale style. More importantly, the game is adding the start of a story mode, beginning with a Prologue.<\/p>\n
