With the first act hitting early-access last week, fans finally have their hands on the long-awaited\u00a0Baldur’s Gate 3<\/em><\/strong>, with the early reactions seeming fairly positive. Despite the game having some\u00a0notable\u00a0bugs, many have lorded Larian Studios’ take on the iconic franchise, recognizing its willingness to let players role-play a character in the\u00a0Baldur’s Gate\u00a0<\/em>world<\/a> and become fully immersed in its\u00a0story.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately,\u00a0fans probably shouldn’t grow too attached to their custom character, with a new IGN article\u00a0reminding fans that saves from the early-access section of the game\u00a0are likely to\u00a0be wiped when the full-version releases. This is quite common for early-access\u00a0projects\u00a0seen as such vast changes\u00a0are implemented, but in terms of\u00a0a lengthy RPG\u00a0like\u00a0Baldur’s Gate 3<\/a>,\u00a0<\/em>it could be devastating to those who’ve spent a long time investing in their first playthrough of the game.<\/p>\n

As IGN puts it, however, there is something liberating about\u00a0Baldur’s Gate 3’s<\/em> save file<\/a>\u00a0likely not being long for this world. Not only does it give fans more leniency to run wild with their character, opting for the evil choices they usually wouldn’t have the nerve to try out, but it also means that experimentation can take the forefront as nothing\u00a0players do in the game will remain fixed. While this will likely be a huge reason to avoid investing in\u00a0Baldur’s Gate\u00a0<\/em>for some, for others, this could be seen as\u00a0ample time to truly learn the game while it’s still in the early stages of its full release.<\/p>\n

It seems the game has a lot of content that can only be accomplished in multiple playthroughs, whether that be through the various different classes or races available to the player when they begin the game. Larian Studios even got angry at players for how little they were experimenting with the RPG’s character creation suite<\/a>, with the team spending countless hours creating an in-depth\u00a0set of options just for players to opt for the generic human character.<\/p>\n

Still, the likelihood that save files\u00a0won’t carry\u00a0over to the full release could be a deal-breaker for some, especially with\u00a0Baldur’s Gate 3<\/em>\u00a0featuring such a long campaign<\/a>.\u00a0<\/em>Investing in the game’s characters and the world could be fruitless when their data is erased in accordance with a full release, so until then, it’s worth keeping in mind that early-access saves are usually not that permanent in the grand scheme of things.<\/p>\n

Baldur’s Gate 3\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>is currently in Early Access on PC, Mac, and Stadia.<\/p>\n
