Some games, such as ones in the\u00a0Call of Duty<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>series, have been getting remastered<\/a> in recent years. This has caused fans of certain series to wish their favorite games would\u00a0get remastered<\/a> at some point. Instead of a remaster<\/a>, some players might prefer to see\u00a0a\u00a0game series\u00a0rebooted.<\/p>\n

These properties can range from older games of the ’90s to newer titles that have become forgotten,\u00a0be it by their publishers\u00a0or the general audience. These reboots can\u00a0provide a modern update of a game or further explore\u00a0a\u00a0story that was cut short. Whether these reboots will happen, only time can tell.<\/p>\n

10 <\/span>Day of Defeat<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Day of Defeat\u00a0<\/em>is a game by Valve<\/a> that brings players to World War II. It is multiplayer only, pitting players against other users. Players can choose different classes: machine gunners, riflemen, or assault troops. The goal\u00a0changes depending on the map, either having control points or bomb targets.<\/p>\n

With Source 2 being released, it would be nice to see the series with updated graphics.\u00a0A new game would be a welcome change, as new factions and maps could be introduced.<\/p>\n

9 <\/span>Mercenaries<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

The\u00a0Mercenaries\u00a0<\/em>series was supposed to have a third game before the closure<\/a> of Pandemic Studios. With only two games, the series could have gone to any location to set up the next story. There was a demo that was released<\/a> of the third game, giving fans of the series a tease of what could have been.<\/p>\n

It would be nice to see another company pick up the series to\u00a0make some new games. As a franchise,\u00a0Mercenaries\u00a0<\/em>still has the potential to deliver something worthwhile.<\/p>\n

8 <\/span>Homefront<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

While\u00a0Homefront\u00a0<\/em>does have a sequel, it is set in an alternate timeline and does not follow the original game. It would be interesting to see the uprising in America after the game’s ending in San Francisco. There is also a lack of characters from the original game. The sequel also changes history, where the original game was set\u00a0to be a plausible outcome.<\/p>\n

Changes of the sequel include the digital revolution happening in North Korea and the communist party falling out of favor in\u00a0that country. It would be\u00a0great to go back to the normal timeline and see a sequel set after the original game.<\/p>\n

7 <\/span>Enemy Front<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Enemy Front\u00a0<\/em>follows an American war correspondent as he fights with various resistance groups through Europe. While a majority of the game takes place during the Warsaw Uprising, it also features flashbacks to Norway and France. It was different from other games set in World War II, instead opting to focus on the resistance.<\/p>\n

A\u00a0sequel could follow\u00a0some of the other resistance groups that existed in Europe. The levels were also somewhat open, meaning players did not need to follow a direct path to their next objective.<\/p>\n

6 <\/span>Battlefield: Bad Company<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Bad\u00a0<\/em>Company\u00a0<\/i>followed the members of Bad Company as they fought their way through a war with Russians to search for gold.\u00a0It was also one of the first\u00a0Battlefield\u00a0<\/em>games to feature a single-player story, something that has become more common in the series. The squad has lovable characters that players quickly became attached to.<\/p>\n

While a sequel game was released, the first game\u00a0ended\u00a0on a cliffhanger that was not answered. The antagonist of the game is a mercenary named “The Legionnaire,” who has his helicopter shot down at the end of the game. He is revealed to still be alive but is not seen or heard about in the sequel. Many players remember\u00a0Bad Company\u00a0<\/em>fondly<\/a>, but\u00a0a new entry has yet to be officially announced. Hopefully, EA has not completely forgotten about this series.<\/p>\n

5 <\/span>Half-Life: Opposing Force<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Opposing Force\u00a0<\/em>is an expansion of the original\u00a0Half-Life<\/em> that follows the soldier Adrian Shephard. It offers a unique perspective as Shephard fights through Black Mesa in an attempt to escape. What makes Shephard stand out from other characters is the fact that he does not appear in any other Half-Life\u00a0<\/em>games.<\/p>\n

Barney Calhoun makes an appearance as Gordon’s best friend, but Shephard is absent. The soldier is taken by the G-Man<\/a> and put into stasis, so he could make an appearance in a new game focused on him. It was later revealed that he was supposed to be the protagonist in a canceled Half-Life\u00a0<\/em>game<\/a>, so there is still hope he will make an appearance.<\/p>\n

4 <\/span>Brothers In Arms<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Brothers in Arms<\/em>\u00a0takes place in World War II. It focuses on the liberation of Western Europe and has the player control soldiers of the airborne regiments. The last game to be released for PC or console was\u00a0Hell’s Highway\u00a0<\/em>in 2008.<\/p>\n

Most of the recent games have been released as mobile games. One game, called\u00a0Furious 4, was supposed<\/em>\u00a0to be released but was canceled in 2015<\/a>. It would be nice to see a new addition to the series updated with modern graphics for the newer consoles.<\/p>\n

3 <\/span>S.T.A.L.K.E.R.<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

S.T.A.L.K.E.R\u00a0<\/em>takes place in the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone where scientists have set up labs to discover psychic abilities the radiation causes. Players fight against other Stalkers and Ukrainian soldiers patrolling the exclusion zone. The last game was released in 2009, called\u00a0Call of Pripyat.<\/em><\/p>\n

S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2<\/em> has been in development for over a decade, dating back to at least 2010. While the game is expected to be released in 2021, a reboot of the franchise might be a great way to entice newcomers to the series.<\/p>\n

2 <\/span>007: The World Is Not Enough<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

The 007: World Is\u00a0Not Enough\u00a0<\/i>is another\u00a0James Bond\u00a0<\/em>game released on the N64. With the franchise has produced its share of video games,\u00a0a reboot for\u00a0007:<\/em>\u00a0The World Is Not Enough<\/em>\u00a0could be interesting.<\/em> When a\u00a0James Bond\u00a0<\/em>N64 game is mentioned,\u00a0people generally think of\u00a0GoldenEye 007.<\/em><\/p>\n

The World Is Not\u00a0Enough <\/i>deserves to\u00a0get the love it deserves and be revisited for modern consoles. With updated graphics and gameplay, it would be a welcome addition to the newer\u00a0James Bond\u00a0<\/em>games.<\/p>\n

1 <\/span>The Saboteur<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

The Saboteur\u00a0<\/em>is another game made by Pandemic Studios; in fact, it was its last game. It takes place in a Nazi-occupied Paris during World War II. The protagonist, Irish-born Sean Devlin, helps the French Resistance fight back against the occupiers.\u00a0The\u00a0Saboteur\u00a0<\/i>had a cool feature, where the game would be in black and white until the player liberated an area of Paris.<\/p>\n

Sadly, as Pandemic’s last game, there will most likely be no new games relating to The Saboteur<\/em>. It would be exciting to see a game follow the same style, perhaps players could liberate another European country. Plus, who does not want to be a foul-mouthed Irishman fighting in a resistance?<\/p>\n
