Genshin Impact<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0burst into the gaming scene\u00a0when it released a few weeks ago. Seeing 17 million downloads on mobile alone, Genshin Impact<\/em><\/a>\u00a0is proving to be a success on PC, PS4, and mobile. But some wonder if the game will ever see its way to the Xbox, and that question may now be answered.<\/p>\n

Developer miHoYo talked with Twinfinite recently about the game, and one important question was answered. In explaining that Genshin Impact<\/em> would be coming to the PS5<\/a>, meaning next-gen, miHoYo said that the team has no plans to bring the game to Xbox consoles, both current and next-gen.<\/p>\n

Thanks to recent acquisitions of the likes of Obsidian,\u00a0Interplay Entertainment, and of course the massive purchase of Bethesda, the Xbox is suddenly the home of western RPGs<\/a>. But it is fair to claim that Xbox is\u00a0heavy on the western RPG side, without having many Asian RPG titles.\u00a0Genshin Impact<\/em>\u00a0is, of course, Chinese developed,\u00a0and the title could add a lot more\u00a0variety to the Xbox RPG library.<\/p>\n

We have plans regarding next-gen consoles, and we will be announcing them as these plans take shape. We do not currently have plans to release the game on Xbox.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The no Xbox update is very interesting because one would think that a game like Genshin Impact<\/em><\/a> would benefit from being on all platforms. Free-to-play titles can thrive by simply being available to as many players as possible, especially with crossplay in mind, which Genshin Impact<\/em> supports. Much of the success comes from players jumping on to give the game a shot with friends for free, since there is basically no downside. There are probably friends who enjoy playing Fortnite, Warzone, <\/em>and now Apex Legends<\/em> in crossplay on different systems that would have also enjoyed trying Genshin Impact<\/em> together.<\/p>\n

Even if it isn’t coming to Xbox, Genshin Impact<\/em> is still on the move. It has already been confirmed that it will see a Switch release, along with the aforementioned PS5 version.\u00a0Genshin Impact<\/em> has seen success all over the world<\/a>, including China, but it won’t see a release on the American Xbox any time soon.<\/p>\n

For those who are able to play the game, whether on PC, PS4, or mobile, they seem to be enjoying it, as Genshin Impact<\/em> has reviewed very well<\/a>.\u00a0The game seems to be a solid mix of various recent success stories in gaming, as it shares similarities in gameplay mechanics with the remarkably beloved Breath of the Wild<\/em> but has multiplatform crossplay like Fortnite<\/em>.\u00a0The fact that it will soon be a next-gen title, but still available to play on mobile, shows that the game has a seriously wide range. However, the Xbox isn’t a part of that, at least for the foreseeable future.<\/p>\n

Genshin Impact\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>is available now on mobile, PC, and PS4, and later on Switch.<\/p>\n
