This\u00a0will surely amplify\u00a0fan excitement for the upcoming Switch release of\u00a0<em>Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<em>Kingdom Hearts<\/em> series is\u00a0well-known for its\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/disney-plus-kingdom-hearts-tv-show-why\/\">mind-bending narrative spanning all kinds of media<\/a>.\u00a0This is partially due to the way the games were originally released.\u00a0requiring players to own\u00a0multiple consoles to keep up with the story. For example, although several spin-offs released for Nintendo consoles, the series&#8217; first two main installments were PlayStation exclusive. Square Enix rectified this situation by releasing anthology collections for PlayStation and Xbox consoles, but those never arrived on Nintendo consoles.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/kingdom-hearts-4-yozora-riku-end\/\">Kingdom Hearts 4: Yozora May Be Riku&#8217;s Replacement<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Nomura&#8217;s latest comments come through\u00a0an interview\u00a0in the\u00a0newest issue of Nintendo Dream, a Japanese magazine. Nomura\u00a0states\u00a0that he may soon have good news for Nintendo Switch owners regarding\u00a0<em>Kingdom Hearts<\/em> content. This\u00a0may\u00a0indicate that the series&#8217; anthology collections could come to Switch, or that new content will arrive on the Switch instead. Granted, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegamer.com\/kingdom-hearts-nintendo-switch-no-more-games\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nomura denied more <em>Kingdom Hearts<\/em> games for Switch<\/a>\u00a0in September. but plans can surely change as the franchise evolves.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ShanVenitas\/status\/1316990451535130624\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>By process of elimination, fans might be able to infer an upcoming port of older games. As a start, Nomura was\u00a0almost surely not teasing\u00a0<em>Kingdom Hearts 3. <\/em>Square Enix allegedly called a <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/kingdom-hearts-3-switch-release\/\"><em>Kingdom Hearts 3<\/em> port impossible<\/a>\u00a0given its demanding graphics. For another, Nomura may have intended to deny bringing any future series games to the Switch in his September interview. This means that the only major possibility remaining is to port the older games to Switch, which should be able to run them proficiently.<\/p>\n<p>Switch owners will likely be very excited about the possibility of playing through the series on the Switch. Given that <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/rpg-games-2019-best-top\/\"><em>Kingdom Hearts 3<\/em> received a warm critical reception<\/a>\u00a0in 2019, newcomers may be curious to see what the hype is about. Others may look forward to playing the games on the go, as a Switch\u00a0iteration would represent the first time many\u00a0<em>Kingdom Hearts<\/em> games would be portable. Finally, some may not want to tangle with the series lore unless they can start from the beginning on the Switch.<\/p>\n<p>More cynical fans could argue that ports are unnecessary.\u00a0<em>Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory<\/em> will serve as <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/kingdom-hearts-melody-memory-preview\/\">a recap of the overall\u00a0<em>Kingdom Hearts<\/em> story<\/a>, so fans should be able to get up-to-speed in advance of future installments.
