Even without the trailer, there\u2019s already some division between <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Sims <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">players and why they think this was a good, or bad, move for the franchise.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><b>RELATED: <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/sims-4-dragon-age-inquisition-skyhold\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>The Sims 4 Player Builds Dragon Age: Inquisition\u2019s Skyhold In-Game<\/b><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/flubs79\/status\/1318243639722725376\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">From the preview art alone, many fans seem to be pleased with the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/sims-4-snowy-escape-expansion-october-2020\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">direction <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Snowy Escape<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is taking<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. It seems like it will add heavily Asian-inspired content for two key reasons. The first is that the artwork itself shows traditional Asian architecture behind two of the sims. Secondly, it has been confirmed by Sim Guru Graham Nardone that the world will be named \u201cMt. Komorebi,\u201d a Japanese word that doesn\u2019t have a direct translation, but emulates how light filters through the trees.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Players are also impressed by the potential of Mt. Komorebi and the new activities it will offer for their Sims. From the artwork, it seems that <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">players can set their <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/the-sims-4-new-expansion-expectations\/\">expectations on new winter activities<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0like snowboarding, and other new physical activities like rock climbing. If the artwork is any indication of the new Create-A-Sim styles included in the pack, many fans are already excited to see what else it has in store.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Overall, this is the most positive response fans have had to <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Sims<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2019 announcements in quite a long time. Some players are upset that the world of Mt. Komorebi seems to have snow in it, which was a key selling point of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/the-sims-4-most-useful-packs-best\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the useful <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Sims 4: Seasons<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> expansion<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. However, it\u2019s more accurate to compare Mt. Komorebi to the world of Sulani, which came in <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Sims 4: Island Living<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Players do not need <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Seasons<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to enjoy the sunshine of Sulani anymore than they would need it to enjoy whatever climate Mt. Komorebi will offer players.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There has also been an outcry from some players questioning \u201cwho asked for this pack?\u201d when the truth is that many people did. In fact, the theme of <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Snowy Escape<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> can be traced back to a community outreach survey that was done many months ago for <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/the-sims-4-star-wars-response\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Sims<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0to gauge audience response<\/span><\/a>\u00a0<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">on what they\u2019d like to see added to the game. A winter-themed pack ranked very high, along with more items inspired by other cultures\u2014<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Snowy Escape<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> seems to have tried to tackle both requests.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The criticism of the similarities between <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Snowy Escape<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Seasons<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> isn\u2019t unwarranted, however, thinking back to the release of <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Sims 4: My First Pet<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> stuff pack. Though it was only a stuff pack, it required players to own <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Sims 4: Cats and Dogs<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> before they could play it, which meant spending more money to add onto an <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/the-sims-4-best-packs-builders-family-legacy-players\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">already pricey <em>Sims 4<\/em> expansion pack<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Luckily, it seems the developers have learned from that endeavor, as no other packs released after that have needed a prerequisite pack again.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For now, this is all just speculation in <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Sims<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> community as nothing has really been confirmed for the pack, other than a few tweets from the Sim Gurus.
