The\u00a0Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>beta is close to ending later today, following a 24 hour extension. Though an open beta is the perfect place to\u00a0win over prospective players and encourage them to try out the full game once it releases,\u00a0Cold War<\/em>‘s beta has been plagued with issues, primarily cheaters<\/a> who have been ruining the experience for everyone else. It’s been so bad, console players have had to turn off crossplay to avoid them, since the cheaters usually play the PC version.<\/p>\n

Some PC users have spent their time trying to datamine the beta and uncover any secrets hidden within the files, though rather unsuccessfully. Clearly anticipating dataminers, Activision and\/or Treyarch included a bunch of intriguing looking files that end up just leading to a Rickroll<\/a>.<\/p>\n

More recently, one thing may have been leaked that will excite long-time fans of the\u00a0Call of Duty\u00a0<\/em>series and it’s a returning weapon; specifically a sniper rifle called the Barret .50 cal, though it looks to have been renamed to the Barret M82 for\u00a0Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n

This weapon has made regular appearances\u00a0in every\u00a0Modern Warfare\u00a0<\/em>title since\u00a0the original\u00a0<\/em>in 2007, except for the 2019\u00a0Modern Warfare\u00a0<\/em>game<\/a>, as well as\u00a0Call of Duty: Black Ops 2<\/em>. It can be seen in action in the beta in the video below, which at first glance suggests that the weapon exists within the files and is likely to be added to the full game.<\/p>\n
